Right before track starts I make my way over to Liam in the locker room. "You have a crush on my brother." I state. The boy freezes and looks at me with wide eyes. "Please don't tell him." he mumbles. I smile. "I won't." But if he hurts him I will personally introduce him to the afterlife.
Coach Vernon yells instructions as usual. Liam runs next to me as we get started on the assigned amount of laps. "How do you keep up such a high pace." he pants. "It's unreal."
My lips stretch into a smile. "Well, for starters, I usually don't talk." I say. He sends me a playful glare but actually remains quiet after that.
The coach blows his whistle. "Alright kids, good job, you get to go home now!" he yells. As Liam and I walk past him to the locker room he pats me on the back. "You're doing good son." he grumbles. Liam raises an eyebrow at me. "I think you're his new favorite." he says. I scoff. "I hope not."
I leave the school and start walking home. Liam yells my name and I wait for him to catch up. "Are you going to pretty much live at my house too now?" I ask. All the boy can do is blush and shove me in the side. "You made it quite obvious you know why I want to spend time with Terrence. And actually you should be thankful I keep him busy so you and Colton can sneak off and shag each other." he retorts. This time I'm the one shoving him.
We come home to a very intense game of scrabble going on in the kitchen between Terrence, Colton and Pepper. Well it's intense for Terrence and Colton due to their limited vocabulary. Pepper honestly just looks bored. I bet my best friend is wrecking them like there's no tomorrow.
After getting myself a sandwich I sit down on Colton's lap who responds by cheering and wrapping his arms around my waist. I pat him on the head and look at the letters he has while I start chewing on my food. Liam takes the empty chair that's left between Pepper and Terrence.
My brother lays down the word 'chair' and I snort. The randomness of the words people make in scrabble always gets to me. Now it's Colton's turn. I shove my half eaten sandwich in his mouth and lay down the word 'gay' while he's distracted. Terrence bursts out in loud, obnoxious hyena laughter. When my boyfriend's confused eyes land on the board he facepalms with a faint smile playing at his lips. "Oh my God." he mutters. I smile proudly. Pepper shakes her head at me in amused disappointment. When Colton finally removes his hand from his face I make eye contact with him and start wiggling my eyebrows. He rests his forehead against my back and laughs quietly.
"Is Pepper the only straight person here?" Liam suddenly asks. What a smooth criminal. "Wait, you're gay!?" Terrence exclaims. The crazy art guy nods, playing it off coolly. Terrence spends a full minute just looking at him. But really looking at him. Liam better thank me for accidentally finding such a genius way to help him break the news to my brother.
Pepper's phone starts buzzing and succeeds in breaking the awkward silence. She pulls it out of her pocket at stares at the screen for a moment. "I've got to go." she says and gets up. "Byeeeeee Pepper." I drawl. It gets repeated two more times by Colton and Terrence. Liam snickers but isn't comfortable enough with us yet to finish the streak. Pepper rolls her eyes and waves while walking out the back door. "Don't get aids!" she says sternly while pointing at Colton and I. Colton grins brightly. "Don't worry. We still have forty eight out of fifty condoms."
There's a moment of silence again. Then Terrence launches to his feet. "You're not virgins anymore!? What the hell!? I want fucking details!" he yells. We both give him a blank stare and no details.
