Alex hated morning briefings. The whole thing seemed pointless to him. He was the epitome of success, top-of-the class soldier and a totally amazing strategist. Or so his squad thought of him.

This morning's briefing is just gonna be the same, he thought. Immediately the General Major, along with his team of Sergeants, bust into the room. A woman, dressed in formal clothing, followed them and settled down with them. The Major, Dominic Valdia, stood up to speak,"We have an emergency on our hands. Unit Delta, 116th, will stay, rest of you can leave." That's it?, Alex thought, but of course, he had to stay behind for briefing. After all, he was from the 116th Delta Unit. "What's the fucking emergency?" he erupted before anybody could start speaking, "Somebody's cat ran up a tree or something?". "No, much serious. Recon Unit 145 disappeared yesterday, at 2300 hours." The woman in formals replied. Not much of a talker, he thought to himself, curt replies meant some bad shit was brewing. "Alright, enlighten us." Alex said, switching himself to his knock-up mode. "Okay. Recon Unit 145, RU145 for short, disappeared yesterday at 2300 hours. Last I checked, they were infiltrating a nuclear facility in the Congo. Operation SWORDSMAN. No Data exchange since they moved out, at 1400 hrs." "Mm-hm, go on."

"Operation SWORDSMAN require them to pull data from an isolated system in the facility. The facility is well guarded." "Private Security?" Alex chimed in. "I'm afraid yes." was the reply. "Did you check a large transaction, I'm talking millions here. Because to have weapons like an AMF-42 Auto-Lock Missile Launcher, you need that kinda cash" said Alex, browsing through files he knew he wasn't allowed to touch. "Allow me to introduce, Ms. Clara Marshall, Senior Recon Director, CIA." the General Major interrupted,"And Alex, for Christ's sake, leave those documents alone, we'll come to them." "Alright..." Alex said, already knowing where this was headed. An hour later of briefing, most of which Alex dozed off, they were done. "So, what did I miss DiFiores?" asked Alex. "We are being deployed on 14th of December as an extraction-and-intel team on the border of Congo." DiFiores replied. "Huh... A land op? It doesn't make sense." He said, "We are based on our heavy combat skills, not recon, besides, we are the assault class of troops. You know, the typical grunts of the battlefield. We are not cut out for such kind of fieldwork."

"We understand. We are bringing another Unit into focus."
