He got to work.

H laid out a tarp and laid the unconscious girl on top of it.

He looked down at her limp body and frowned, sad that Elizabeth wasn't there to witness this. It was just too risky, he was already too far in his game, nearing the end.

He got to work, playing the same melody from Wagner, laying out his tools.

He grabbed a knife and kneeled next to her head, putting the blade against her throat.

"Dear one, you are now going to be relieved, away from this life. You never appreciated how beautiful you are. I take my blade and hold it against your throat, slicing into the flesh, piercing your vein. Sleep well, princesses." He did the things as he mentioned them.

He wiped the blood off the blade onto the tarp and walked back over to his tools. He came prepared, bringing along a small bottle of Elizabeth's blood to pour around the victim's head.

He did just that and carved an H into the heel of the young girl. This time he wrote a note on the tarp next to the girl's now lifeless body, using the blood oozing from her neck:

Dear Detectives,

Sorry to say I distracted you. I was itching to spill some blood. The idea of wasting some time on another clue seemed boring to me, so i did this instead. Luckily for you i'm no longer bored with clues, find your next one in this room. The game is coming to an end. Find me, or she dies. Two more days.

Love, H

His clue was the name of the abandoned store that he murdered the girl in, and of course the fact that it was abandoned.

He gathered his things together and left, going home to Elizabeth, his favorite girl of all.

The next morning Niall and Harry were paged into work early only to discover that there was another body.

They went through the motions: investigating the scene, interrogating the parents, and wondering what the hell it was that they missed.

That afternoon they were seated in their office.

"Harry, I'm stuck." Niall said looking up from the newest report.

"I know.. I am too." Harry sighed, defeated. They had no idea where H was.

Niall looked at his partner.

"Let's just relax for a minute. Wanna go get coffee or something to clear our minds?"

"Please."

They signed out, a thing the chief was being a stickler about after some time had gone missing from the charts, and went out to Harry's car. They drove to the nearest coffee shop, only the dull buzz from the radio sounded throughout the car.

They were both nervous, they only had a day left and nothing was making sense. It was like a math problem that only an engineer could solve, Harry and Niall feeling they they were high schoolers only just learning the tricky subject. It was horrifying, the fear of the unknown.

They got their coffee and sat back in Harry's car to drink it.

"Harry?"

"Yeah, Niall? What's wrong, darling?" Harry noticed the look Niall had on his face; fear and worry.

"Do you think.. Well i dunno, Har. What if something happens to one of us?"

Harry set down his coffee and reached his hand over to rest on Niall's thigh, stroking it in a comforting way.

"Whatever happens is going to happen, but either way you know I love you."

Niall blushed a little a Harry's words and abandoned his coffee next to Harry's in the console's cup holders, and leaned across to leave a small peck on Harry's cheek.

"I love you too, Harry." Harry radiated at Niall's words and connected their lips in a soft, sweet kiss.

Niall pulled away whispering softly, "We're on the job."

Harry chuckled and weaved a hand through Niall's soft hair on the back of his head and pulled him in for another kiss, one which wasn't so chaste.

Niall make a pleased noise when the other nipped at his lips.

Niall poked Harry in the side and released himself from Harry's firm grip.

"Sweets, we've gotta get back." Harry hummed, his eyes still closed, bringing Niall in for another short kiss. Niall, letting out a soft chuckle, pushed himself away and sat back in his seat.

"You're no fun." Harry huffed, a pout placing itself on his face.

Niall rolled his eyes and picked up his coffee, sipping at it.

He loved that idiot. He really did.

They went back to their office at the police department and began to dig into the case. They were running out of time.
