“What are you kids doing in here?” Mrs. Gerald asked us as we exited the kiln room, her graying hair set in a bun atop her head. My face instantly grew bright red, busted.

“Oh sorry Mrs. Gerald.” Alan said apologetically. “I thought I left something in here and didn’t want to disturb you on your lunch break.” He gives an apologetic look. She buys it!

“Very well Alan. Now run along now, don’t want to be late for class.” She said sternly. Alan nodded.

“Yes ma’am.” He grabbed my wrist and we exited the room. Once out he let out a huge sigh of relief and gave a chuckle. “I thought we’d be caught!” He exclaimed in a whisper.

“Me too!” I giggled and grabbed his hand. “Walk me to English?” I asked.  He slung his arm around my waist and we walked off towards room 111.

When I arrived home, I saw Garth sitting on his front porch with an acoustic guitar. He seemed to be deep in thought about something, maybe lyrics? Or maybe he was fantasizing about being on stage in front of a huge crowd that’s chanting his name? I don’t wanna bother him, but I go over anyway and sit next to him.

“Howdy neighbor~!” I say, giggling a bit. He chuckles and smiles at me.

“Howdy yourself. What’s up?” He asks, leaning his arms on the top of his guitar, a lyric sheet in his hand.

“Nothin’ just thought I’d come and see how my favorite neighbors doin’.” I give a cheesy smile. “Whatcha’ writin’?” I ask, peeking over at the paper. He moves it out of my view.

“It’s a surprise.” He said with a chuckle. I groaned but accepted that.  “You’ll have to wait to hear it.”

                                                “Till when?”

“Till the guy I like realizes what he’s doing…” He goes quiet.

“Awww…”I frown. “If he’s really worth it, then he’ll realize soon enough.” I smile and stand. “Gotta go, big date with Alan tonight~!” I run off towards my house, waving goodbye to Garth. I wonder who the boy he likes is…maybe it’s some kid from his school. I smile to myself, feeling happy that he found someone he’s crushing on. Hopefully he starts dating him! Then Garth and his boyfriend can double date with me and Alan! I giggle to myself as I go into my room, I lay on my bed and check my phone, seeing 3 texts from Alan. My heart flutters as I read them over.

                                ‘Hey’

                                ‘Babe?’

‘We still on for tonight?’ I bite my lip happily and reply with ‘of course’. Moments later he calls me, his irresistible voice caressing my ear drums with every word. Suddenly out of nowhere I hear the phone ‘click’ and there is immediate silence.
