I walked into school with a smile on my face. We were going to England in a couple of weeks, going abroad, away from everything here. I can get away from the drama.
I wouldn't have to worry about Xavier either. I wonder how well he will take the trip. Perhaps when I came back he would have realized I'm not worth his time and would have moved on.
A girl can dream.
I spotted Cora first, her red hair was tied into a neat ponytail; she was wearing her usual jeans and a t-shirt. I guess I should have expected her to go back to that outfit. After all, she was a tomboy.
"Hey." I greeted her with a smile whilst leaning against a locker.
"Hi." She replied, putting her spare notebooks in her locker. She refused to make eye contact with me. She even pretended I wasn't staring at her expectedly. She knows what's coming.
"You are going to tell me everything Coral." I used her horrible nickname just to annoy her. If she doesn't react then I know something is wrong with her.
"Annie, don't call me that." She scolded, closing her locker. "And I know, I will. I have a feeling you already know though."
"I have a feeling I know too but I want to hear it from your mouth," I said, watching her blush slightly. I still can't believe she has a crush.
Cora opened her mouth then closed it. I'm guessing she is trying to find a way to put it into words. It must be hard for her, after all, she's never had something like this happen to her. Its like a foreign language to her.
"I-I don't know how to say it." She stuttered, her eyes darting around everywhere. She lowered her voice so only I could hear, probably because she was afraid somebody in the hallway would be able to hear us. Which I highly doubt since it was very loud and chaotic in here. "I sorta have a crush on Derek. It's weird, I dunno. We met when I was practicing with the team, he stumbled into me and I apologized. He acted like such a gentleman and I swear when we touched I felt sparks. Am I crazy? Or have I actually found somebody who I could possibly like?"
Cora looks so confused by everything; to be honest so am I. I haven't dated before either, so I don't know what guys are like. I felt sparks when I touched Xavier but surely, they can't mean anything. Personally, I think she should be the bold person she is and ask him out or something. Life is all about taking risks and doing things, living in the moment. Otherwise, you'll live your life regretting it. I think she should follow her heart. If she does, she may end up very happy. And that's all I want for Cora and Ren – for them to be happy.
