The Ocean and the Pond

The Pond so envied the Ocean

Within its spate of raging waves
The Ocean held such dignity

With such theatrical pursuit
The crash of waves bore symphony

And there upon the sea storm's break
One near would sanctify its wroth

For with its tapered claws of white
It swallowed all its prey in froth

And on those days of blazing sun
The Ocean was a welcomed sight

A pair of feet dug in the sand
And through the air tore vibrant kites

Beneath its breast swam silver fish
As dolphins broke through golden tide

The Ocean reigns triumphant yet
Beloved by all those here and nigh

But in the wake of Ocean's might
The Pond remained so calm and still

No ripple broke the evening lull
As ducks picked petals with their bill

Such beauty in reflections shown
To only waters that ran slow

It's surface held in sunlight's grasp
The Pond wore such a thoughtful glow

The Ocean so envied the Pond
