The Pond so envied the Ocean
Within its spate of raging waves
The Ocean held such dignityWith such theatrical pursuit
The crash of waves bore symphonyAnd there upon the sea storm's break
One near would sanctify its wrothFor with its tapered claws of white
It swallowed all its prey in frothAnd on those days of blazing sun
The Ocean was a welcomed sightA pair of feet dug in the sand
And through the air tore vibrant kitesBeneath its breast swam silver fish
As dolphins broke through golden tideThe Ocean reigns triumphant yet
Beloved by all those here and nighBut in the wake of Ocean's might
The Pond remained so calm and stillNo ripple broke the evening lull
As ducks picked petals with their billSuch beauty in reflections shown
To only waters that ran slowIt's surface held in sunlight's grasp
The Pond wore such a thoughtful glowThe Ocean so envied the Pond
