CHAPTER SONG: Demons by Imagine Dragons

Steven's POV

"Bye Kat I'll see you tomorrow" Mia said turning the handle of the front door.

"Wait we're going somewhere tomorrow?" Dustin asked raising a brow.

"No Kat and I are, and you," she pointed at the guys and me, "are not invited"

"What? why not?"

"Don't worry about it" Mia dramatically spun around and exited the room, Dustin immediately ran after her.

"Good night and thanks again for the sandwiches Kat they were delicious" Tyler and I shared a handshake before he waved at Kitten.

"Anytime" she sweetly smiled from her bed. I walked over to her after Tyler left and laid down on her bed while she was leaned up against the wall with a book in her lap. She's wearing a plain grey crew neck and penguin pajama bottoms that were too big because they went past her toes.

"so where are you and Mia going tomorrow?" I inquired leaning my head on my palm.

"the mall" she answered glancing up from her book.

I only nodded, "Hey uh I'm sorry about Tyler and Dustin I know they can get kinda loud while playing video games"

"ehh it's alright, it was actually kinda funny..." she paused, "you were playing Call of Duty right?"

I sat up to face her properly, "yeah, do you play?" I spoke taking the last Oreo from her plate causing her to lightly glare at me. I have a bad habit of stealing people's food.

"I never really got into Call of Duty," she said closing her book, placing it next to her, "But I use to love GTA"

"No way I use to play that all the time..." I looked off slightly into the distance, thinking about mini-me playing GTA San Andreas all day and all night and having sleepovers with Tyler and Dustin. It was quiet for a while when I looked over at her, finding her also gazing into nowhere with a slight smile on her face. I guess she also has happy memories tied to the game. "Which was your favorite?"

She seemed to still be stuck in a daydream when she spoke her next sentence because surprise wouldn't even begin to describe my reaction.

"Vice City, that one was both, my brother and I's favorite... we probably finished the entire thing like 5 times" she let out a soft laugh filled with awe.

Brother?

I didn't know she has siblings... why was she trying to hide that? I mean it's not something to be ashamed or secretive about. "You have a brother?" I honestly wouldn't be questioning this if it was someone else but the fact that she doesn't want me to know makes me curious. I watched the side of her face, seeing her scrunch up her brows before her face dropped and her head snapped to me. Shock and nervousness dominated her features as she stared at me. My suspicions were right, she didn't realize what she was saying.

"Yeah..." she spoke slowly, trying figure out what I was thinking but I did everything to keep my face neutral.

"Cool," I nodded casually. I don't know why but I didn't want her to know that I was curious, I guess so she doesn't feel pressured to tell me anything she doesn't want to? I don't know. "So how do you guys plan on going to the mall tomorrow?" I changed the clearly uncomfortable subject.

"W-what do you mean?" Kitten asked looking away, she's struggling to get over the previous conversation.

"I mean..." I answered in a mocking tone trying to cut the tension, "Mia doesn't have a car, do you?"
