I saw him first
I said
She said no
But eventually
Whatever.
I said I love you
He said I think I do.
Sixth grade
Got complicated
Love was everything
What happened
Was even more
I told him most
But not all
I couldn't
I didn't remember.
I met another him
I said
He said
You broke my heart.
But I couldn't take it
With him I'd die.
So I left.
One more year and the new he was gone,
But never far from my heart.
Give it six months
I said.
He said I'm leaving.
And now he's gone.
Gone, gone.
Just like the rest.
All too ready to leave.
I told him if the pain,
Then the new he,
And I told everything to
Yet another new one.
Just set me up for more.
I miss them all
And how's that possible.
How's a girl supposed to choose.

Splintered
Broken
