The Truth

She can't keep going on like this.
In so many ways,
She just wants to be normal.
But somedays
Like today

She wants to break free of all the chains,
Run free and tell everyone she meets
Of the pain she's been through.
She wants to stop putting on her brave face,
Stop acting like nothing ever happened.

At night she cries herself to sleep
Because there's no other way
When you're too afraid of what your
Dreams will bring.

Every time she's told someone
She just laughs it off
And asks for no pity.
But really,
She's just waiting
For the day when someone finally
Sees through the walls she's built.
And she can finally

Break free of all the chains,
Run free and tell everyone she meets
Of the pain she's been through.
She'll finally stop putting on her brave face.
And she can finally admit what really, truly happened.

She just wants a shoulder to cry on,
But no one's ever given her that
Her family's too much of the
Buck it up and take it type
Her friends just can't see
The real pain that she's in
And everyone else just wants the facts.

She wants someone to hold her through the tears
When the nightmares wake her up,
Again.
She just wants someone who doesn't try to understand
But just listens.
She understands what happened,
And doesn't need anyone else to.
She just doesn't understand why
And she's pretty sure she doesn't ever want to.

She just wants to put aside the mask,
And give up her walls
So she can

Break free of all the chains,
Run free and tell everyone she meets
Of the pain he put her through.
She wants to stop putting on a brave face.

And then she can finally start to really face the truth.
