Race Day

30 2 0

I'm heading to the races
It ain't nothing big
Just to hopefully put a little cash in my pocket.

When the day is done I'll be off to show
Nothing big
Just another little bit in my pocket.

Atop my black filly
I'll race to the end
They'll doubt us at first
What filly can win?

But I know my black filly well
She'll run 'til her day is done
She'll push harder and harder
She won't stop.

We'll make it that mile and a quarter
We'll leave 'em in the dust
We'll win this race
Like all those before it.

I'll feel her muscles ripple
That coat like black diamonds
An old leather saddle
An old jockey's uniform.

Just a little more cash in my pocket,
Just another day at the races.
