I tried to hang around with Lonzo until he was dismissed, but between his sour mood and Lavar sounding off about the time his son would miss I decided to dismiss myself. I left out with Chat, Mani and Jerrold, passing Lonzo's brothers in the parking lot.

The day continued with practice. I thought it would be my time to get away from everything, but my teammates kept asking me about it during water breaks and transitions between drills. Towards the end of practice word was going around that Lonzo was back at the guys practice in the main gym.

I didn't mean to sound insensitive earlier but I meant what I said when I told him that whining wasn't going to get him back on the court faster. I hadn't received a text or call from him since I left the hospital, so I figured it was because of my bluntness.

When I was with Zo at the hospital, Nate had started texting me and calling me with concerns in regards to the other night. He went from expressing his worry for me to bad mouthing Zo and vowing to end to whoever hurt me. I'd normally shut him down but I didn't want to give him any inclination that my friends suspected him. Not wanting to get Zo riled up, I wasn't specific as to who it was when he asked.

After practice I went to the locker room to get my phone and headed to the training room to get some ice for my calves.

My phone started ringing. Mom. I rolled my eyes, not wanting to deal with this right now, but knowing I'd hear an earful all night if I didn't.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey Bella love. Your dad and I are at the police station on campus. They want you to come down here," she said.

"Okay, I just got out of practice. Be there in about 15-20."

"Alright. See you in a bit."

I hung up just as I walked in the training room. I noticed that Zo was in the trainers office sitting across from John's desk. Not sure if he noticed me, but I went ahead and asked another trainer for ice and to wrap them around my legs.

"Thanks Johnny. I'll see you tomorrow," I heard Zo say as I was heading out.

I got about halfway up the hallway when I recognized his voice calling my name.

Turning around, I saw him making his way towards me as fast as his crutches would take him. His shorts made his other accessories visible: a brace with a sleeve underneath it to support his knee.

"Where you headed?"

"To the police department. Why?" I folded my arms across my chest.

"Because my dad just texted me and said that he needed me to come down there."

"If our parents are down there together and they need us then something must have came up. Hopefully it's whoever the fuck did this," I figured, "oh well, guess I'll see you there."

I started to walk off, but stopped when I felt him grab my hand.

"I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to come off like that towards you. It was just...a lot and the past couple 24 hours have been crazy," he said, "you were one hundred percent right about what you said. I needed to hear that."

How could I stay mad at him? I get it. His frustrations are understandable. I remember how I felt when I had to sit out. Those green eyes drained all the attitude out of me.

I felt my RBF softened to a smile. When he noticed that, he leaned down and kissed my cheek.

"Come on, I'll drive us there."
