The Guest

"Jane..."He whisper.

"No.."

"Jane!" I now realize that I didn't dream. It is really happening. How could the guest is none other than James Kinsley. Can he not pick other auditor? From all people in the world, why him?

"..."

"Why are you here? You can't be.."He grab my wrist. That time I really want to run.

"Don't, James.."I tried to release my wrist but he is too strong. "James.."

"Sweetheart, do you need help?" I heard Caine footstep coming. James immediately release my hand.

"Oh hi James. Come in. You come earlier. Here is my wife, Jane. Jane. This is our new auditor. James Kinsley."

I see him give his hand to shake. So do I.

"Jane. Nice to meet you, Mr. Kinsley". I do feel hurt saying his name like this. And I feel bad for lying to Caine.

"Just James." He smiled.

"I though you bring your partner, James" Caine asked him while hugging my waist.

He smiled one more time. "I don't have any"

We spent the night with dinner and small talk about company. I really want to left them alone. But there is no sign that Caine want me to leave. Hence he keep take me into their conversation. They talk about their college, their business. Now I know that it is very difficult time for James when he is in college. And now I know that he did not even have proper life and I was very stupid to not knowing this. I was too childish to understand this before. I though he forget me. My heart never stop beating hard. Once at time he see me and smiling. As if he tell the story for me.

"Lately I am too busy and mostly go abroad. For very important thing you can ask my fiancee. She isn't my wife yet. But soon she will be."He smiled looking at me. "She know a bit about company which I believe can help you."

"But Caine.."I try to refuse. It will really cause problem. I know it.

"It is okay, sweetheart. You know and you can help. At least you can tell him where to get the information needed. It will help the auditing goes faster. I won't be here too long these few months."

"When will you get married?" James suddenly asked something out of topic and makes me shocked. I kind of parting my lips when Caine easily answer.

"Probably in 2 years."

"I see. You have a beautiful wife. You are very lucky."

I feel my face blushed. I stand up in a rush and told them that I need to go to restroom. It makes my face hot listening to the conversation just now. How could he.. I don't even know whether I should be back to the living room or no. I sighed. This is too complicated. I don't even know my heart still beating so fast seeing him. Damn.

They are still in deep conversation when I am back to living room. I sit back next to Caine. Oh and by the way Ben at the end not attending the dinner because his wife need his help to take care of their son who has a fever. I keep listening to their conversation which is I think will never end. They got along together very well. Well.. not good. I sighed. 

Rrg.. Rrrg.. "Sorry I had to take this". Caine informed. Then disappeared to front door. Oh crap. This is worst. I kind of standing and trying to find a reason for leaving this room.

"Sit, Jane."His gaze makes me very scared.

"..."

"Jane, please." He grab my wrist and force me to sit back to where I sat. "Jane, don't be such a kid. We no longer a student. You choose to be happy with him. Why need to be scared to my presence?"

Really? "You heartless prick!"

"Jane!! You don't want him to know the past, don't you?"

I can feel tears falling to my cheek. He still have this huge impact in me. Really. This is already 4 fucking years. And.. OMG. 

"Jane... " He kneel in front of me and wipe my tears "You have to know that even though you're not with me, I want you to be happy. Always. And I promise you I will finish this job very fast so I can leave you back to normal life. Without me..."

World without him. That words haunted me. Keep ringing in my ears. Do I want that? I must be insane. I have a good life. He is right. He probably only temporary visiting and then done. I bite my lips. I don't know what to say or what to do. When I meet him again, will everything really back to normal after he left?

"James, I live my life like hell... When you disappeared. I thought I'm gonna die." I sobbed.

"Sshh.. Dearie, that is the past. The moment which is now memory. That is what makes you today. Sshh. I promise you I will go. Away. After everything done. And that time, I will tell you goodbye..."

"Why you, James... Why?"

He shrugged. "I don't know. That is just happened. Like that. Probably it is the time I should apologize to you. Jane.. "I can see sadness in his eyes. The last time I saw this is.. when he will leave me. And also the last time I saw him.

"You better be fast, James"

"You didn't change. At all. Not sure whether he know this version of you." He chucked and continue "You looked very sweet together"

The door opened and we both jump. James release my hand and back to his seat. While I keep biting my lip. Don't know what to do.

"Your wife. Is one of a kind."James suddenly saying to Caine. What the hell?? "You're lucky"

"Yes I know I am lucky." He laughed and hugged me while I glare at James. Seriously?  "I hope you can get along together to help me with the auditing. Yes, honey?"

I nod. I am really speechless while James laughed. "I sure will. Don't worry"
