The grass swayed in the breeze as two young boys played together in the Kingdom of Lunastar. One boy had straight black hair with dark blue tips at the end. The other boy had curly brown hair that was so dark, some would call it black. They both yielded wooden swords.
They swung their toy swords around each other. Each boy tried desperately to evade the other one's quick strikes. Then they came to a stop. They stared at each other intensely. Their wooden swords were positioned to the side of their bodies. They tried to anticipate the other one's moves. Within a blink of an eye, the boy with the blue tips lunged forward and hit the curly-haired boy.
"Ow, dang it, Yuuto! You got me first," he cried.
He rubbed the left side of his torso.]
"That kinda hurt." Summer sun shined down on the scrawny boys as one stood over the other. They were participating in a game that most children enjoyed playing in this kingdom, "Suingusuingu" or "Swing-Swing".
Yuuto smiled at his victory. He raised his sword in triumph and said, "I win again, Kenta!"
Kenta gave him a slight smirk and laughed. He crawled back to his feet and took a few steps toward his friend. The victor remained cautious and kept up his sword. He saw this, so he decided to put down his sword and extend out his arms. His friend took a small step toward him. The loser chuckled and yanked him into a friendly embrace. Yuuto laughed and draped his arms around his waist. While Yuuto relaxed in the comfort of their hug, Kenta saw this as an opportunity to poked him in the back with the wooden weapon.
"Owww, Hey! That's cheating," Yuuto shouted.
Kenta snickered and dropped his sword, "I was just playing with you!"
"Okay," Yuuto whined as he rubbed his back. He wore black hakama pants that had grass sprinkled on them and a white nagajuban shirt. The other boy wore a white nagajuban shirt, which looked a little too big for him. It was stained brown and green in a few places. His hakama pants were torn and were littered with shreds of grass. Then there was the sound of a heavy wooden door being moved.
"Boys, it's time for dinner," called out a woman from the house.
"Okay, mom!" said Yuuto. His mother wore a gorgeous white kimono with purple, blue, and silver stripes. Her face was pale, whereas the rest of her body was a dark tan color. There were unique blue dots on the center of each cheek that looked as if they were connected to her eyes by faded blue lines. Her short hair was white with blue and purple streaks. Kenta remained in his place, awestruck at her unique complexion.
Her eyes flared when they took a closer at her son's clothes, "Yuuto, can't you be more cautious when it comes to keeping your new clothes clean!"
His traveled to the ground, "Mom, can you please do not embarrass me in front of my friend?"
His mother processed to say something to him in Lunastarian and went back inside. Yuuto sighed and looked at his new clothes. Once Yuuto's mother was gone, Kenta turned to his friend.
"Hey, Yuuto what were those weird markings on your mom's face? I mean, I've been your friend for a while now, and I've been curious. I was afraid to ask before because I didn't want to be rude."
Yuuto looked at him and then he thought for a moment. Should I tell Kenta about my mom? I guess I should, he is my best friend and all. Aw, it can't hurt for me to tell him this. He opened his mouth to speak while Kenta stood there, patiently waiting for an answer.
