'Ryaaaan' Ryan reads quickly on the small phone screen in his lap. He checks to make sure the teacher isn't looking his way before responding back.

'Taryyyyyn' Her text came almost instantly.

'Lets hang out after school, eh?'

A small grin formed on his face as he replied 'What did you have in mind?'

'Let's go to the dog park with Trevor. You know he misses you'

'I saw him this morning :p'

'Whats your point?' At that Ryan started chuckling to himself, and replied 'You could have asked when we aren't in class, we could get caught'

'Caught-smaught! So what do you say?'

      'Fine we'll go :p'

'Yay!' At that Ryan shoved his phone back into his pocket and looked back up. He soon realized it was a good thing too, because the teacher was starting to pass back papers and was heading to his row.

When the bell for school to be over rung, Ryan made his way through the bustling crowd and out into the front entrance. Taryn already sat on the stairs, her back turned and her long blonde hair swaying gently with the wind.

He approached her with a smile, and she returned it.

"It took you long enough to get here."

Ryan pretended to be offended "Well your majesty, not every person can be as swift and fast pacing as thee."

"You are forgiven, young squire." she said playfully as she stood up. They both made their way to Ryan's car and headed straight for Taryn's house. Once there they both got out and went inside. Trevor automatically ran out and to them, his tongue flopping all over the place.

"Hey boy!" she said, bending over to scruff up his fur. Trevor replied by licking her face. She then made her way past him and into the kitchen, so Ryan gave him a few pets himself, and followed her. "I'll just make us some sandwiches for while we're there." she explained, gathering all the things she needed. Ryan took a seat in one of the kitchen chairs in the far corner.

"Where are your parents?" Ryan questioned.

"Oh, they texted me earlier, saying they're going on a date and for me not to wait up for them." she chuckled. He chuckled along with her. Ryan loved hearing and seeing Taryn's parents, simply because even after being married for over twenty years, they're always happy and in love. He only wished for a love like that... or at least that he lived with one. Just then his mind flashed back to David and Susan; all the things they did together and memories they shared. Although only briefly it made his thoughts turn sad as his eyes moistened. He forced himself not to think about it anymore.

"You okay?" Taryn asked, glancing back at him. Ryan stiffed a cough, trying to push the emotions back.

"Yeah, I'm okay." he gave a small smile. As Taryn looked away, Ryan could tell she didn't believe him.
