Maddi's P.O.V
"We've been here for a month now. When is there gonna be a life here. We're in high ground. Can we plant something on the roof or outside the doors?" I ask. "We can't just walk outside, Maddi. It's too dangerous. I can't put you or Jaime in any harm. You know that." Luke replies back to me then says, "I know that you're hungry. I really do. We all are. But we need to find food for the all of us. You know how some of the people are here. Mom has already got into a few fights here already with some of these people." I look at him quickly and say, "Then why don't we just leave?" He looks at me like he's mad.. "Why don't we just leave?! Maddi you have a baby! WE have a baby! You really want to go out there and lose her just like I lost my sister?!" Luke says. Sometimes he oversays things. "I'm sorry." He says shaking.. He never really brought up Hope.. She wasn't the toughest, but she could have probably made it if she tried, and she did for a while. I guess a while was enough for her.
**Few hours later**
"Mom?" I ask looking for her. I don't see her anywhere. It's dark and the light are out. I grab a candle and light it with a match. "Mom?" I say again. Finally I go check and see if there's water in the fridge. I see her there. "Mom, I've been looking for you." I say. She turned around to look at me, her eye was black. "Who did this to you?" I ask her worried. "I just fell.. That's it." She says back to me. "Are you sure? That looks pretty bad.." I say before she opened up her cut mouth. It was just a scratch. Nothing too serious, but the black eye is a big deal. If dad finds out who did this, he will kill someone. "I'm fine Maddi! Just go back to bed." She says back to me. I look at her worried and say, "Okay". She followed me and told me that she was really okay. She had ice pressed to her face and walked back to her and dad's room to go to sleep.
I went back to sleep too.
