Chapter Four: School Is Hard, But Living In The City Is Harder

Sure, EJ may have been new to NYC but that doesn't mean she'd get lost easily, right? Wrong. After her classes at NYU, she had no idea which train to take home. Hence, she frantically called Annie.

"Annie, hey. I have no idea where I am." She calmly told her friend.

"WHAT?!" Annie shouted.

"I'm pretty sure I took the wrong train home...." EJ said.

"Which train did you take?!" Annie asked.

"How am I supposed to know?! I just got on the train I took to get here!" EJ said.

Annie sighed, "That means you went farther south. Oh lord, I hope you aren't to far south. Ok, what station are you at, I'm coming to grab you."

EJ peered at the sign by her, "The Cortlandt Street stop."

"Alright, I should be there in about 20 minutes. DONT YOU DARE GET ON ANOTHER TRAIN OR I SWEAR TO GOD I AM NOT TRACKING YOU DOWN AGAIN!" Annie shouted.

"Alright, alright!" EJ exclaimed, "See you in 20 minutes."

EJ ended the phone call and plopped down on a bench. 4:39, the clock on her phone read. Ughhhh I'm hungry. But of course I wasted my money on my subway tickets. Wait...Maybe if I play my ukulele, I can get some cash for food! She thought.

So there she sat, ukulele in hand. As people passed by her, she began to sing.

A few people around her applauded. EJ saw that a few people had dropped money in her case. Exactly $20, enough to buy some form of food. So, she headed to the McDonald's at the station and got herself a 10 piece chicken nugget meal and a medium soda.

She ate it while still waiting for Annie to arrive. Annie eventually arrived, leading EJ to the ticket booth. They both purchased a subway ticket and waited for their train to arrive.

"So what did you do while waiting for me to arrive?" Annie asked

"Oh nothing much." EJ said with a smile.
