"COFFEE IS THE GASOLINE OF LIFE."

ARCHER WAS A much harder guy to track down than Reyna thought he was going to be.

So, of course, as her luck happened to be horrible, she was up well past midnight wondering how on Earth one guy could hide so well.

Briefly her brain flicked to the possibility of him being an animagus, but she quickly dismissed it. There was no way a group of teenagers, let alone one, could complete the demanding challenge successfully.

So, she continued to lay on her bed, the softness of it doing nothing to convince her to sleep. However, Reyna eventually realized she was not going to be able to sleep.

So, having nothing better to do she got up and went downstairs to the Ravenclaw common room.

Seeing the common room was completely empty she quickly padded across the floor and sat down in the comfiest chair, which just so happened to be conveniently placed by both a fire and a window.

So she sat, staring out the window at the constant tiny activity of the grounds outside.

That is until the fire went out and her only source of light was gone.

Reyna let out a huff. This had to have been the thousandth time the fire went out because of a draft from outside. The Ravenclaw's were supposed to be the smart one's, there was no good excuse as to why this problem went unsolved.

So Reyna, quickly shut the window, lit the fire again and began to think.

This was until she was interrupted once again.

But, this time by a voice, "What in the name of Merlin possessed you to be up so damn early?"

Being surprised by the sudden noise Reyna flinched so badly she nearly fell off her chair.

"Sorry." The voice replied again as Archer came into view, "I didn't mean to scare you."

Recovering herself Reyna smiled tightly, "Couldn't sleep. Though while I have you I just wanted to say sorry for how I interrupted Xena and your conversation. Xena is a completely non-crazy person and you shouldn't stop talking to her because of the likes of me."

Hearing this simple explanation Archer let out a light laugh, "I wasn't planning on it. Something as normal as a pair of girls being best friends isn't enough to frighten me away."

Reyna let out a sigh of relief falling back deep into her chair as a weight was lifted off her shoulders, "You have no idea how relieving that is."

"I figured it would be." Archer replied briskly before a look of realization dawned on his face.

This surprised Reyna so she sat up to face him, "What do you mean?"

Archer rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, "Sorry, I'm rather good at reading people. But, normally I try not to say things like that out loud. It tends to freak people out."

"I can't imagine why." Reyna replied sarcastically after a brief moment of thought. "But that's also really cool."

As the sun rose began to rise up through the window the two teens smiled at each other. But, as sunshine broke through the window Reyna broke the cliche moment with two words as she turned to look out the window.

"Damn it..."

  ○-●-○

Xena and Reyna walked side by side on their way to the Great Hall as Reyna recounted what had happened in the wee hours of the morning.

"So, he doesn't think I'm crazy?" Xena trailed off.

"Not in the slightest." Reyna replied with a smile, "Or he at least doesn't think you are crazy because of that."

Xena scowled lightheartedly at this giving her friend a small shove in the side.

They entered through the doors of the Great Hall and bobbed and weaved simultaneously through the crowds of students making their way to their seats. They both sat down at the Ravenclaw table and reached for the food on the table.

Well Reyna reached for the food: Xena reached for the drinks.

The two had a system going. Reyna stacked both of their plates with the foods they liked best, of course depending on availability, and Xena, due to her amazing skills with beverages, made Reyna's coffee and her own tea. Xena for whatever reason had always been able to brew the best cup of coffee ever made. Even Reyna's mother, the pickiest person to grace the Earth agreed.

Reyna piled her own plate with sunny-side up eggs, sausages, baked beans, and fried mushrooms while she simply took the entire plate of pancakes for Xena. The two friends were  different in almost every way, but if there was one thing the two girl's had in common, it was their love for breakfast food. Both girl's swore on a regular distance they would eat it for every meal except dessert. They loved dessert almost as much as breakfast, but not quite.

Once both girl's had finished up making their designated portion of breakfast they passed each others breakfast to each other and began to eat.

Reyna took a long sip of her coffee not feeling any better than she did previously, but still not at the state of the alertness she wanted to be. So in one long sip she drained the rest of her coffee and slammed her cup back on the table, harder than she meant to.

Xena let out a chuckle as she held her tea delicately in one hand, "Remind me when we're both of age to not ever go against you in a drinking contest."

"When coffee's involved don't go against me period. Also did you give me decaf?" Reyna replied groggily.

Xena tuned to look at the coffee beans she had used, "Damn it. I'm sorry Reyna."

Reyna let out a sigh of defeat. Life just didn't like her today.

Then an angel from heaven showed up.

Argus said from behind Reyna, "I brought you coffee."
