"Just because your ten, doesn't mean you have to follow me around." My older brother, Matt, rambled on as I followed him down the side walk.
I just smirked and stayed quiet following him.
He stopped dead in his tracks and turned to look at me, "Do you not listen?"
I looked at him with the biggest smiled on my face, my voice mocking his, "Just because your thirteen, doesn't mean you have to be a prick."
He gasped and quickly swatted at my behind, "Bad words."
"You say bad words all the time." I said as he faced forward and started walking again. I, of course, still followed.
He growled and just shook his head as we reached the corner where we ran into his friend Brian.
"She's still following you around?" His friend said looking at me for a short second then at Matt.
Matt shrugged his shoulders and looked at me, "At least she's a pretty laid back sister."
Brian laughed and the three of us continued to walk down the side walk to the beach.
We met up with a few more of Matt's friends, one of them had a little brother closer to my age, Johnny. We dug holes in the sand while my brother and his friends skated on the side walk and smoked cigarettes.
"Is your brother mean to you?" Johnny asked me out of no where.
I shrugged my shoulders, "Sometimes, but then I'm mean back and he stops."
"I wish my brother wasn't so mean to me." He said sadly.
"Be mean back." I told him.
He shook his head, "Then he beats me up."
"That's really mean." I said standing up and dusting the sand off my jeans.
Johnny got up and did the same, then looked at our brothers with their friends.
"Hey, shorty! And little girl!" Johnny's brother yelled looking at us, "Were going for food, get your asses up here."
We both ran back to the side walk and joined everyone else. I jumped on my brothers back, wrapping my arms around his neck as he skated on his friends board down the side walk to the taco truck a few blocks down.
Brian grabbed me by my waste and spun me around as we reached the taco truck. He sat me down and messed up my hair. I shoved him playfully then ran from him as he chased me around the taco truck.
"You have one quick little sister." Brian said nearly out of breath as I leaned against Jimmy.
Jimmy picked me up putting me on his shoulders, making us nearly 6'3 together.
Matt laughed and order our food. Jimmy followed him to a table and sat me down.
"Band practice tonight right?" Matt said taking a bite of his taco and looking at Jimmy.
He nodded his head and looked at me smiling, "Bring your sister? She needs another drum lesson."
Matt rolled his eyes but then smiled big, "Can't leave home without my side kick."
Brian joined us, sitting next to me.
"You do have the best little sister ever." Jimmy said finishing his food quickly.
I smiled big and ate quietly.
We all ate and joked around. I felt right, in the right place with my brother and his friends. I felt like they were my friends too.
