CHAPTER FOUR
Alex woke up next morning feeling a little better after what happened yesterday. She forced herself to wake up and clean herself. She went downstairs and glanced at the wall clock, wanting to know what the time is. She gasped when she saw that it’s already seven thirty. She ran to the kitchen, got herself an apple and granola bar and went straight out.
She’s a block away from the school when she remembered an important thing she apparently forgot. Blake Pierce is in the same school as she. She stopped her tracks when realization hits her. She fretted on how she’s going to face him after what happened yesterday. Will she apologize? Maybe, ignore him the whole day? Or maybe she could hide from him? Alex realized where her thoughts are going and she doesn’t like it, not a bit. She took a deep breath, stuck up her chin and walk straight to school.
Though she’s really, really nervous, she can’t back down. What she did yesterday was justifiable and reasonable so she didn’t have to be ashamed about it. She shouldn’t regret it because truthfully, that guy deserved it. But despite what she’s been telling to herself, she kept her head down as she walked to the main building. She never attempted to look up for fear of seeing Blake because here in school, she can’t just talk to him like what she did yesterday. Blake’s got a lot of fangirls and she’s afraid of what will happen to her once those girls hear her talk to Blake like that.
It was very hard reaching your classroom without looking at where you’re going, but she did it. So if she’s going to do that the whole day then maybe, just maybe, she can avoid Blake altogether.
Their lesson for that day is about the theories of Sir Isaac Newton – the Gravitational Theory and the Theory of Magnetism – but she can’t focus on class. And right now she’s wondering when did Blake Pierce became a distracting agent on her studies.
Before she knew it, her first period is over which means only one thing – she have to go out on that corridor and try to be as invisible as she can. Well, as they all say, prevention is still better than cure. So it’s better to avoid the problem than to deal with the damages his fans can and will give her.
After the second period, Alex is feeling a little more confident that the fates are on her side. Few more hours and school will be over, which means no more chances of meeting Blake and no more hiding. When the bell for lunch rang, she quickly gathered her things and ran to the cafeteria to meet up with Mich.
Speaking of Mich, she’s been contemplating about telling her mom about her, maybe introduce the two of them and prove to her mom that she do have a friend. She backtracked at the thought – wouldn’t it be offending for Mich to know that she’s just being shown off? Alex internally groaned, maybe one day she’ll just introduce the two of them without all the drama.
She’s been thinking so much that she failed to notice that Michelle’s already beside her, until she shook her gently. She looked at her friend in confusion. “What?”
Michelle frowned, “What do you mean what? Don’t tell me you weren’t listening to what I’ve been saying. Wow, Lexa, I was rambling for about ten minutes and you’re not listening?”
“Sorry, I’ve been thinking a lot lately. Sorry I wasn’t paying attention. I won’t do it next time.”
Michelle laughed. “Hah! As if!”
Alex scowled at her and walked a little faster while Mich just laughed and copied her strides. They were almost at the door of the cafeteria when Alex accidentally bumped into something. She thought that she may have bump into a wall but feeling it move to steady her, she figured out it’s a human being.
