Hadyel heard the chomping noise. She sat there on the shore, staring at the far away center of the lake, watching the black waves rolling and splashing. Tears were streaming down her face, and again, these tears were blood. She dug her fingers into the soft sand. All the rest of the party slowly walked over to her. Kartre put his hand onto her shoulder. Hadyel layed her hand over Kartre's.

"His death..." she said full of rose red tears. "... His death is mine." She ran over to one of the large rocks and leaped off. She heard everyone screaming. Something grabbed her. It was her cheerful friend, Isabella.

"Don't jump." She said. She picked up Hadyel. Isabella was one of the strongest kids in the whole middle school.

"Hey." they then heard a voice say. "You forgot about me." they turned to face Gidan. He was holding Leonard firmly in his hands. "Thanks for the pet, fools." he said as he leaped into the sky and flew away towards the now setting sun. That was a strange mutation Gidan had. It was pretty beneficial.

Hadyel Tapped Isabella and said, "You can put me down now." Isabella set her down. Hadyel looked down at her reflection in the black waters. Her eyes looked strange. They were a yellowish-reddish color with a black slit for each one. They kind of looked like a cat's. She felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around. She saw Mya.

"We're all sleeping in the cave. I just wanted you to know." Mya then whispered something into Bella's ear. Isabella was laughing really hard as Mya slowly walked off to the cave.

Hadyel asked, "What are you laughing at?"

Isabella snorted and said, "Mya told me that Kartre... Ha, ha! Uh, Kartre apparently got a stupid mutation that he found just now... Hee, hee! Apparently, he has spikes on his ears that look like one of those punk rock earrings!" she was now laughing even harder than she was before. She then ran away to the cave, so she, herself, could see Kartre. Hadyel just stared into the lake, where Nicolas had died. She looked back at her reflection.

"Bella?" she called, because Isabella hadn't quite reached the cave yet. "You can find a lot of stuff in this dump. Please go find me some shades." Isabella nodded and sprinted off into a pile of garbage. Moments later, she came back with a pair of sunglasses. Yes, they were quite tremendous and a little bit shattered, but they would still function to cover her slowly mutating eyes. Hadyel really didn't want Mya making fun of her mutation like she did with Katre's.

Hadyel heard the sound of someone's footsteps approaching from behind. She turned around and saw Kartre.

"What are you wearing those for?" he asked as he gazed at the large sunglasses. "When it's night... The sun isn't shining."

Hadyel let out a heavy sigh and said, "Kartre, I'm not a total idiot. Of course I know at night the sun isn't shining, because the earth rotates." Katre didn't laugh at her sense of humor. She rolled her eyes from behind her sunglasses. "Do you really want me to show you why?" Katre nodded. Even though she disliked Katre, she could trust him way better than she could trust Mya. She pulled the sunglasses off, and set them on the trash-filled ground beside her. Kartre squinted and bent down to look into her eyes. "Wow..." He gasped. "Can you even see in the dark with those things?" Hadyel shrugged. She couldn't tell if she actually could see in the dark, or if the night just looked brighter from all of the chemicals and radiation. She grabbed the glasses and fixed them back onto her face.

Kartre smiled and said, "Mya caught a fish... And she told me to go find everyone so they could go to the cave to eat dinner." He then hurried over to the entrance of the cave. Hadyel ran after him, she could've sworn that she would've starved to death in another second. There was a strong scent of smoke from a burning fire. There was a lot of chatting. Hadyel went to the back of cave and sat next to her friend, Isabella who was drawing in the sand. Hadyel put her hands in her face.

"I just can't believe that Nick is dead..." she said tearfully. "I wished I could do something to save him... Nicolas, my... My love." She began to cry, but instead of tears, blood streamed down her face. She knew that she was being the quite dramatic thirteen-year-old. Kartre ran over with a washcloth and handed it to her.

"The radiation must've messed with your eyes bad. Does it hurt?" he asked. Hadyel shook her head. When some of the blood dripped on the cave floor, near to immediately, it turned from a bright red a dark purple.

Mya yelled, "I found plates! Or should I say cool flat rocks? Well, anyway, the fish is done cooking. Go get in line." Everyone then seized a plate and darted over to the line. There was a lot of pushing and shoving. It was like a school cafeteria giving out pizza. Kartre got his slice of fish. He sat in a random spot of the cave floor and took a bite of the trout. It was delicious. When he took a bite, it exploded into a sweet goo, and the rest of the flesh melted in his mouth. It was beyond scrumptious. It was fit for a king! Kartre had to get seconds.

As he put some more on his plate he heard Mya ask, "Kartre, we're all stuffed. How can you get a second helping?"

Kartre laughed and retorted, "Because I'm fat!" they both laughed.

          "You're not fat!" said Mya.

Kartre chuckled and said, "Yeah, I'm fluffy."

Hadyel shouted, "No, Kartre. You are just fat!" the cave echoed with laughter. When he took a bite of his seconds, it didn't melt in his mouth. This piece was light and heavenly, it was divine. He wished that this dainty dish lasted in his mouth forever. He thought of it strange that both helpings tasted totally different. But, you know, mutant fish.

Kartre felt something lie in his lap. He saw a head. The head of the amazing wonderful girl, Isabella. Did she really love Kartre so much? Oh, Isabella sure did. That was very good. Well, Kartre thought It was cool. He could now have a hot girlfriend by his side. Kartre began to feel his eyes shut too. They closed, and the world went completely black...

When Mya woke, she was shivering from the cold. Toxic snow had fallen. It was a dark red. Mya wondered if it was a strong acid or something, so she stuck a dead twig from inside the cave in it. The twig melted. She was the only one awake. She threw the smelly remains of the previous night's dinner, the trout, into the blood red snow. It melted as well, but it left a loathsome stench behind. She crawled back into the cave. She took her cell phone out of her pocket. When she turned it on, it made an ear-splitting explosion, waking everyone up. Mya dropped it, and it backfired in flames. Hadyel ran over and kicked the phone into the death snow. It blazed a few times before it bubbled up into a pile of melted circuits.

Mya faintly said, "Th-the phones are a death bomb..." Then her light voice turned into a loud yell, "Everyone! Hurry! Toss your cell phones into the snow!" Everyone obeyed, and sent their phones flying into the snow. They all watched them melt into a burning glob of goo. Hadyel and Isabella laughed like maniacs as they watched the phones melt. Kartre covered his ears from that irritating noise. Isabella laughed even more troublesome, just to annoy her crush. Hadyel tapped Isabella and quietly whispered into her ear, "Bella, why don't we try to laugh less annoyingly, you know, so your crush, Kartre, won't totally hate us." Isabella led her annoying laughter to a halt. Kartre uncovered his ears, relaxed. Hadyel quit laughing as well. Yay! Now her best friend's crush hopefully wouldn't think of her as completely annoying.
