He parked his car and got out of the car. He decides to bring color pencils as well as his notebook full of notes, diagrams, essays, etc. He took his nephew with him.
"Jojo?" His nephew called him.
"Hmm?" He looks at Isami.
"I see that little fishy flopping." They walked towards the flopping fish. Isami picks it up and lets it back in the water.
"Hey Isami?"
"Yes?"
"Why do you call me Jojo?"Isami shrugs and giggled.
"Isn't your middle name-"
"Don't mention it Isami. Please. Its...weird." He turns a slight shade of red from embarrassment.
"Dr. Kubo!" Someone shouted. They looked at a girl with her school uniform running towards them.
"Please Ayima. Just Jordan." He told her. She breathes heavily and nodded. Ayima is not a runner and cannot run for more than 7 minutes without getting tired.Ayima stood straight after regaining her composure.
"Anyway Jordan, we have a sea turtle in the class and it won't exactly move. Everyone thinks it's dead, but I think it's sick."
"Do you see it breathing? Did you get a pulse?"
"I see it breathing, but I didn't get a chance to check its pulse." Jordan crossed his arms.
"Do you even know how to check the pulse?" Ayima scratched the back of her neck and laughed nervously.
"I knew it."
"I'm sorry Jordan. I didn't pay attention in class."Jordan kneels to her height. Ayima was short, but Jordan was tall.
"Tell you what. I'll stop by tomorrow and see the problem Ayima, okay?" Jordan assures her.
"You're not even a vet!" Isami accused.
"Quiet you." He told Isami. He looks at Ayima.
"Thank you." She thanked him. She looks at Isami.
"So cute. Is that your son?"
"Nephew."
"Ah. Anyway, see you tomorrow." Ayima runs off.Isami tugged on Jordan's shirt.
"Hmm?"
"Will you ever tell me?"
"Tell you what?"
"Why you have an common name? Also, are you really 1/4 Irish?"
"What made you ask that all of a sudden?"
"Daddy and I were talking and he said that he had Irish blood in him. Is it true?"He had to explain everything. Jordan is 1/2 Japanese, 1/4 American, and surprisingly, 1/4 Irish. He found after his mother admitted that she was half-Irish and half-Japanese. His mother's father was Irish while his mother's mother was Japanese. On his father's side, his father's mother was American while his father's father was Japanese. Every time he told someone that he's 1/4 Irish, people would laugh. Ha! A Japanese male partly Irish?! Foolish boy!
Jordan decided to keep quiet about his background unless he was asked about it. He currently holds a doctorate in marine biology and hopes to get the post-doctorate degree. He has to do more research. He doesn't understand why he has an American name. Were his parents not okay? He has an older brother name Josiah. Josiah was also in a similar predicament with his full name. He got married to a Japanese woman a few years ago and had a child a year after the wedding. They named him Isami. Isami tugged on his shirt.
"Yes?"
"I'm hungry."
"Okay. You want ice cream?" He nods. Jordan pays 190 yens for an ice cream cone. Isami and Jordan walked back home.Jordan got Isami settled while he waits for his father (Jordan's brother). Jordan got out a stuffed dolphin.
"Is this for me?" Isami asked with surprise.
"You left it here when we went to the aquarium, remember?"
"I'm sorry Jordan."
"It's okay little guy. I still had it after all this time." He gave it to his nephew. He squeezed and cuddles it. Just then, there was a honk. Isami's father arrived. He got out of the home and ran to the car.
"Dad!" Isami squealed with joy. Josiah rubbed his head. Jordan ends up at the window of his car.
"Hey, thanks for watching my son."
"Well, you would do the same, right?"
"Nope." Jordan laughs out loud. He knew that Josiah was playing around.
"Anyway, I'll see you guys soon. Wait, what did Isami eat?"
"Had an ice cream cone."
"Well then. I'll see you soon." Josiah drives off. Jordan heads back inside. He looks around his small home. It was neat. Except his office. It wasn't exactly the best place to study, but that's where he got his work done. He sat on the chair and looked at his portfolio. He needed to do more research on the marine life. The phone starts to ring.
'Well what do you know. The phone rings.' He thought. He picks it up.
