Ginny Weasley sat on her bed looking out her window. Her brothers, Fred and George Weasley sped through the air on there broomsticks. Ginny pushed her flaming ginger hair behind her ear and watched eagerly as they flew farther and farther away. She sighed softly as they flew out of sight into the orchard.
Now Ginny was the only girl in the Weasley family other than her mother, Molly Weasley. Which seemed to provoke her brothers into teasing and picking on her. Ginny was a fairly pretty girl, her foggy emerald green eyes always shined when she was inspired or plotting. Which often gave her away before she got into any mischief.
She scrunched her freckled nose thinking about not being able to ride a broom yet because her brothers always seemed to hog them. She slid of her bed and walked out of her room. Ronald Weasley ran down the stairs making loud clanking noises on the stairs. Ginny followed her stomach growling loudly.
Molly Weasley was in the kitchen muttering under her breath, which wasn't to uncommon. Ron sat at the table looking down at his breakfast plate with a unpleasant look on his face.
Ron was the youngest Weasley boy. He had ginger hair just like all the Weasley's, and of course freckles.
Ron picked up his fork and poked his eggs.
"Mum, has Errol brought the post yet?"
Mrs. Weasley shuffled around the kitchen. "Uh no dear I don't think so. " She pushed her frizzy ginger hair behind her ear, much like Ginny. Her face was all extremely red at the moment and she huffed as she turned to go out of the house to call Fred and George. Ginny sat across from from Ron.
"So, why do you want to know about the post?"
Ron sat there silently. Ginny narrowed her eyes at him and grunted then stood up. Ron muttered quietly. She sighed and rolled her eyes then walked out side following her mum outside. Mrs. Weasley was yelling at the top of her lungs, Fred and George slowly made there way back.
Mrs. Weasley glared at them. Ginny watched from behind her mum wondering what they did.
Fred and George both had wide grins on their faces. There ginger hair shined in the bright morning sun and they ran inside. Ginny watched them go and turned to her mum.
"What'd they do now mum?"
She looked at Ginny, her face red and she muttered, walking on.
"Well uh very informative. " Ginny followed her mum and sat back at the table trying to get out of the twins what they did. Ron finished his food and jumped up, his mouth still full of food.
"I'mgonnabeeriteback." He said quickly. Ginny took a few seconds to try to figure out what he had said as she stood up slowly then ran after him. Ron was standing out side, his eye squinted and his nose scrunched as he looked at the sky. Ginny walked up behind him and looked at the sky pondering what she could be looking for.
Something crashed into the side of her head and she fell over. Ron whipped around and looked down at Ginny. Then picked Errol off of her.
"Bloody bird's got some screws loose. " he muttered as Ginny got up and rubbed the side of her head muttering under her breath. Ron untied the daily prophet from his talons and sighed not seeing any other letters. Ginny looked over his shoulder.
"So where you expecting a letter from Harry?"
Ron looked at Errol and glared at the bird as if he had been losing letters.
" Possibly. " Just then a barn owl flew past them and landed on a near by branch, Ron quickly got up and snatched the letter it was holding. The barn owl ruffled its feathers angrily and flew off.
Ron opened the letter,
"It's from Hermione, " he read for a bit. "She's not getting any responses either. " He muttered and walked back to the house. Ginny carried Errol and the daily prophet bring them both inside. She put Errol on the window seal waiting for Mrs. Weasley to take care of him and she put the daily prophet on the table. She ran after Ron as he walked up the stairs, the stairs creaked loudly and Ron walked into his room. The ghoul in the attic continued to bang on the pipes. Ron grabbed a spare piece of parchment and quickly wrote, "If you don't respond soon I'll see if I can drop by and pick you up. "
Ron looked back realizing Ginny was watching over his shoulder.
"Bloody hell Ginny!" He quickly shoved the letter in his pocket.
"Can I come when you go after him?" She asked innocently.
"No!" He scrunched his freckled nose. "I don't even know what your talking about. " Ron walked past her and quickly ran down the stairs again.
Ginny sighed softly as she returned to her room, she looked out the window as Ron brought out Errol with the letter tied to his leg. Ginny jumped up and almost fell down the stairs, she ran outside and grabbed one of the broomsticks. She was determined to follow Errol this time. She watched Ron send Errol of in the distance almost as a signal to her she pushed off the ground and hovered for a bit, not remembering the last time she had rode a broom. The broom sped off over Ron.
"GINNY WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!" Ginny sped on ignoring him, following the owl.
Errol flew lopsided but was faster than he looked. Ginny had a hard time catching up with him but once she was just a few yards behind him she watched him land in on of the trees.
"What are you doing Errol?" She whispered to herself. She landed in a branch near Errol and waited. Ginny set the broom between two branches and sat down. Errol seemed to make himself comfortable and soon fell asleep. Ginny watched the owl as time slowly dwindled past. She pushed her hair behind her ear and leaned against the tree. The branch under her creaked a bit but she didn't move. She watched the trees in the distance and found herself nodding off. Her eyes drooped and she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Her dreams where filled with uneasy scenarios of her first day at Hogwarts.
. . .
Ginny twitched uneasily as she heard a squeaky voice.
"Come on Errol. " It squeaked. "I just need that letter. "
Ginny opened her eyes and turned to where Errol was, it had gotten dim and appeared that she had been dozing for several hours. Ginny's eyes widened as she looked at the creature talking to Errol.
The creature had large bat-like ears and bulging green eyes the almost size of bludgers. She squeaked quietly then recognized the creature to be a house elf.
Ginny stood up on the branch,
"What are you doing?!" She said loudly trying to sound more brave then she actually was. The house elf squealed loud and tumbled off the branch. Ginny gasped and looked over the branch to see what had happened to the little house elf, but didn't see anything. She sat back up and turned to see the house elf on the branch again, staring at her with his humongous green eyes. Ginny screamed in surprise and backed up almost falling of the branch herself.
"Misses must be quiet ma'am! Very quiet! " The house elf squeaked hold out his hands in front of him. Ginny looked back at him then down at the ground.
"How'd your get there!? I watched you fall!" She looked at him with round surprised eyes.
"House elves have magic too you know. " He said it almost obstinately. Ginny was quiet for a few seconds.
"Who are you?" She asked softly.
"My name is Dobby ma'am Dobby the house elf. And you are?" He seemed to be desperate trying to change the subject and keep it off of Errol.
"Ginny, Ginny Weasley."
Dobby looked at her with wide eyes. "Weasley? Weasley's aren't respectable at all! " He became very quiet realizing what he had just said and snapped his fingers, a branch appeared in his hand and he started whacking his head with it.
"Bad Dobby!"
"What are you doing!?" Ginny grabbed the stick and tossed it on the ground.
Dobby looked at her with his enormous eyes.
"Dobby must punish himself ma'am. Dobby has repeatedly what his masters have said and he was strictly told not to repeat anything!"
Ginny narrowed her eyes. "Who are your masters?"
Dobby looked like a hurt puppy and started banging his head against a branch that was near him.
"Fine! Fine! Your don't have to tell me but don't hurt yourself! Here, " she paused. "why don't you sit down then we can talk?"
"Sit down?" his eyes watered. "Sit down?!"
"UH NO JUST STAND THAT'LL BE JUST FINE FORGET I EVER SAID ANYTHING. " Ginny said quickly afraid the elf would start hitting himself again.
The house elf looked at her weirdly.
"So... Why where you talking to Errol?" Dobby let out a ugly sob and disappeared.
Ginny blinked wonder where he had gone. But was interrupted by Errol flying away.
