AU: Circus, A/B/O, Hybrid
Zack remembered the first few moments he saw Milo Murphy and his sister Sara.
It was Sara who'd caught his attention as she spun through the sky, looking like some kind of weird bird with a blue wig on. Then, as she released her grip on the person she held on to, Zack saw Milo. Milo caught the next ring with the backs of his knees and swung up, looking small and bird-like.
Given what Zack knew about B.T. Cavendish, he had no problems believing that all the people in this damned circus where Hybrids, just like him.
Their eyes locked and time seemed to slow and Zack swore he'd never seen a more beautiful pair of hickory brown eyes. Slowly, Zack fell in love with the trapeze boy who aimed high and dreamed higher.
And just like that, his world began revolving around a Dove Hybrid, something Zack never thought he'd ever see.
MML~MML~MML
Zack's parents didn't approve of a boy, much less one who could fling himself off a trapeze as easily as he breathed.
Milo found that he didn't want to see the film after all, rushing out of the theater before something else went wrong. Zack followed him and finally caught up when he finally got to the Cavendish Building.
Milo didn't look up as he fixed his bandages and started to get ready for the trapeze, fixing the ring and readying the ropes. Zack tried hard to talk to Milo, but Milo shut him down, insisting that they couldn't be together.
Zack decided that the only way to get his point across was with a song.
You know I want you. It's not a secret I try to hide. I know you want me. So don't keep saying your hands are tied.
Zack poured his despair and anger at what had happened into his voice. He wanted Milo to understand that he didn't mean for that to happen and hoped that Milo knew he'd defended him to the last word.
You claim it's not in the cards, that Fate is pulling you miles away and out of reach from me. But you're here in my heart, so who can stop me if I decide that you're my destiny?
Milo pulled another rope and a sandbag began to lift, allowing one of the rings in Milo's act to fall from the sky and he walked over to it, slipping inside and weighing it down, listening and intrigued, but only for a few moments.
Zack would need to convince him that this was okay and what Zak wanted, that he wanted to be with Milo despite all that had happened.
What if we rewrite the stars, say you where made to be mine? Nothing can keep up apart and you'd be the one I was meant to find. It's up to you and it's up to me. No one can tell us what we get to be. What if we rewrite the stars? Maybe the world could be ours, tonight.
This was Zack's offer. To forget about those people who said they where unnatural freaks and they'd never be together. For them to rewrite it all completely, because despite the fact that Zack came from a normal family, could pass as normal himself, he didn't want to be normal. He wasn't normal.
And that was all okay.
Milo smiled sadly, then let himself be pulled up to the top of the building, ignoring the brief resistance as Zack tried to catch the ring. He pulled himself into routines he'd been performing since he was young, easily slipping the rope around his waist and sliding down it. It came as easily to him as the breath in his lungs.
