AU: Alpha/Beta/Omega, Rebellion, No Murphy's Law
Takes place before "Back on Track".
Zack was nobody's fool, but that didn't mean someone couldn't trick him. Maybe that's why it hurt so much when Amanda betrayed them and revealed she was an undercover agent working for the Order. Or maybe it was because of the fact that Amanda had convinced Zack, Milo, and the rest so thoroughly that she'd actually come back to them.
But as Amanda stood in a crowd of innocents, holding a bomb in her right hand and Milo against her chest in the other, with Zack's gun aimed at her head, Zack knew Amanda had been convinced by the Order's recruiters that their way was the only way.
Zack, Milo spoke softly, barely a whisper of sound passing through the Bond.
It's okay, Milo. Zack murmured back. I've got it. Zack watched as Milo relaxed marginally into Amanda's hold, waiting for whatever Zack was about to do.
Hey now, take a look around. Look at all you've done, all that you've torn down.
"Hey, Amanda! Hey, now, look around! Look at all the destruction, look at all that you've torn down!" Zack shouted, aiming his gun at the ground as opposed to Amanda's head; and therefore Milo.
Amanda's eyes did dart around, looking at the mess the bombs had caused.
Hey there, citizens are scared. Why don't you think twice before throwing bombs in the air?
Zack noticed a small group of innocents huddled together in the rubble of what used to be a store. "Citizens are scared Amanda, why don't you think twice before throwing bombs up in the air?" the young Alpha demanded.
Hey now, who's listening? My words are unscripted. Hey now, open your eyes. Hey now, hey now, get up and fight.
Amanda's eyes darted around again and her eyes narrowed.
"Amanda, who's listening in?" Zack asked, "What script are you reading from? My words aren't scripted. Amanda, open your eyes. Hey now, hey!" Zack shouted as Amanda looked to throw the bomb in her hands towards the innocents on the streets. "Get up and fight!"
You've taken all that you can take from me. Now I don't need your sorry eyes to see. I'm not a ghost, I'm in the flesh, cause I'm good at evading death.
That was when Milo decided to chime in. "Amanda, these people took everything from me. My Mom, my Dad, my sister, everything. I don't need their eyes to see when it's already crystal clear. The only reason I'm still here is that I'm good at evading death."
Amanda's stance didn't waiver.
Milo tried again.
I feel it like a throbbing in my brain. I know who I am, we're not the same. I'm not the legend that I was, I'm standing here a champion.
"Amanda, can't you feel it? I know who I am, we aren't the same." Milo told Amanda, recalling a conversation that he'd had with Amanda once upon a time about how similar they were.
"We aren't the legends we were, Milo. I stand here triumphant. I am a champion." Amanda finally spoke up and Milo's heart sank.
Amanda wouldn't be saved.
Champion.
Milo sighed, then went boneless, slipping his lithe body out of Amanda's hold, turning and dropping to the ground; kicking Amanda's legs out from under her. Amanda yelped as she fell to the ground and Milo raced back to Zack's side. They nodded to each other as Milo pulled his own gun and the Bonded pair leveled their guns at the rising Latina.
