" You ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
This was the day of Isaac's first time officially practicing to drive and Jordan was going to be the one supervising him. Jordan tossed his brothers the keys t their family's blue Nissan and Isaac caught them, unlocking the car and sliding inside of the driver's seat. Jordan followed suit and slid into the passenger seat. They both buckled themselves into their seats and Isaac stuck the keys in the ignition and turned the key, which powered up the vehicle.
He placed his foot on the brake pedal and looked over to Jordan for permission to start. Jordan nodded silently and Isaac looked behind them, pressing down gently on the gas pedal. They were both shocked, however, when the car was inching forward instead of backward. Isaac smiled sheepishly as a blush of embarrassment covered his whole face. Jordan slammed his own hand into his forehead while Isaac awkwardly chuckled, grabbing onto the gear lever and switched it onto reverse.
The car finally began its backward motion and Isaac steered it gently to the left, before driving his way down their long driveway.
" Hm, take a left and drive up to the stoplight, then take a right towards Elderidge Avenue"
Jordan instructed gently as he scrolled through a few of Jessica's new posts. Isaac turned left, continuing on the country road until he reached the small intersection at the end of the street. He turned right and continued onto the road until he reached Elderidge Avenue. He waited at the light and turned to Jordan.
" Where to next? "
" Go to the empty parking lot behind Walmart. Its Sunday so there should be no cars there."
Isaac nodded and when the light turned green, he drove off toward their local Walmart. Once there, Jordan put down his phone and stated that they were going to practice parallel parking. Isaac gulped as his stomach churned. He wasn't the best at parallel parking. In fact, he as HORRIBLE at the skill. He had tried once before and ended up running over one of their trashcans!! He gulped nervously and nodded, pulling towards the small trees in the middle of the parking lot. He tried to pull in between them, but almost as soon as he did so, they both hard a loud screech and quickly got out of the car.
When he saw the side of the car, he placed a hand on his mouth. A large scrape was slashed across the side of the blue car, its paint no longer blue but not a dark grey of the metal underneath it. Jordan put two hands behind his head and groaned.
" Isaac, mom is going to kill you! Shes gonna flip. Seriously, you should've been more careful. Oh gosh, we are in so much trouble"
Isaac felt a sting of tears in his eyes and he scolded himself. 'I'm was 20 years old! I shouldn't be crying over this!' He thought. He looked away and sighed. His mom would definitely be angry about the scratch. There was no doubt about it. he was bound to get punished but he felt that he deserved it after all.
" Get in, we're going home and I'm driving."
Jordan snapped at him as he snatched the keys from his younger brothers hand. Isaac got in and soon they were on their way back home. The ride home was completely silent, as neither of them said a thing. Jordans silence out of anger and disappointment while Isaacs was from shame and embarrassment.
Once they got home, Isaac stood out of the car, only to get dragged by Jordan into the house.Everyone looked up upon the brothers' arrival. Jordan pushed Isaac forward gently.
"Tell her Isaac."
Jordan told him gently.
Isaac looked back at Jordan before sighing and looking back at his family.
" When I was practicing parallel parking, I scarped the car on a tree and no it has a very large scratch on the side.."
"Isaac! That's an expensive car!"
" I know! I'm really sorry please forgive me"
Isaac sat and stared as his mom and dad whispered to each other. He impatiently rolled his ankles softly as he waited for his punishment. Paula was the first one to speak up.
" Isaac, we forgive you, but that doesn't mean you're off the hook. You get three weeks of taking out the trash, and you cannot be in any videos for at least a week"
Isaac inwardly groaned but nodded his head silently.
" Thank you. Thank you so much."
He went to hug his parent and they enveloped him in a hug.
'At least I don't have to pay for the damage' he thought, relieved.
"Also, you're paying for this with your own money."
"WHAT?!"
