Cold water

It was a cold and chilly day in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Jordan,Bethany,and Cierra were currently playing in the snow together, while they made snow angels. Isaac wasn't feeling well so he stayed home,while his siblings went outside. As the children lay in the snow, Cierra got an idea. She jumped up immediately and stuck her face in Jordan's own. "Hey Jordan? Can I go walk on the lake?" Jordan sighed with his eyes closed before he nodded slightly. "Yes, you can, but be carful alright? Mom put me in charge and I don't want you guys getting hurt." Jordan told her. " Thanks!" Cierra said, before she began running clumsily towards the frozen body of water. Jordan chucked at his younger sisters playfulness and lied down next to Bethany, who had been studying different snowflakes as they landed on her glove covered palm.
Cierra laughed as she slid across the ice. At first she looked like a spider on roller skates but she soon got the hang of it and was able to walk and slide gracefully across the ice in her snow boots.
Bethany looked up at her older sister as Cierra ran across the ice.
"Hey Cierra can you show me a trick on the ice?" Bethany asked her older sister. "Sure sis, watch this!" Cierra began to slide fast across the ice before she leaped into the air, spun around a few times, and landed back on the ice. It was then a loud "Crack!" shot through the air. Jordan immediately shot up from his position on the snow and looked toward his frightened sister.
"Cierra," he called. "try to walk slowly toward me!" He then turned toward Bethany, who was frozen at the thought that her only sister could get hurt.
"Beth, go get mom now." He whispered to her. Bethany nodded with dazed eyes before she took off towards their home.
Jordan looked back at Cierra, who was walking slowly toward him. That's when he saw a hole in the ice that was just about bigger that Cierra. "Cierra! Look out!" He yelled, but she didn't see it. In a matter of seconds Cierra fell through the ice.
"Cierra!" Jordan ran towards the hole and jumped in. The freezing water bit at his skin but Jordan ignored it and swam throughout the chilling water, desperately looking for his sister. He began to lose hope, but just as he was about to swim up to the surface, he saw a movement. That movement was Cierra trying to swim!
Jordan instantly swam down to her and grabbed her by the hand, before pulling her
upwards. Both kids splashed out of the water, and landed roughly on the hard ice. Jordan and Cierra panted as they began to stand.
"Come here." Jordan told his shivering sister. He took off his jacket and placed them around Cierra, before he picked her up bridal style. Jordan began to walk home with his sister in his arms. As they were on the driveway of the house, their mom burst through the front door with Bethany on her heels. "Oh my poor babies! Are you two alright?!" Jordan and Cierra nodded and Jordan set his sister down. "Okay, so why don't you two go inside and I'll make you guys some hot cocoa?" Paula asked her children. They all nodded and headed inside. "Thanks for saving me Jordan." Cierra told her older brother as they sat cuddled on the couch. Jordan smiled before replying,"That's what siblings do."
