He asked me to open up my shell, he wanted to see what was inside.
I feared he wanted to see beyond my colorful exterior, and inside to where all the waves of life had come in and out to greet me.
I let him, because what else does a hopelessly in love girl do.
He said, "You're so beautiful inside and out, that is why I insisted you open up your shell."
It was in that moment my stomach felt pearls forming, creating something beautiful no shell could be able to create.
There was substance beyond my comprehension, and as I stood there I wasn't afraid anymore of all the past waves that had come and gone into my life.
