Chapter 2
PRESENT: FIRST DAY OF SENIOR YEAR-
I did my normal everyday mourning routine, which I have been doing for years now, and yet it still hasn’t changed. After all that, I plopped down on my bed while scanning my closet right across from me.
“Hmmm... What should I wear that is senior year appropriate?” I said thinking out loud.
"Need some help sweetie?" my mom entering my room without permission and setting herself down on my bed.
I stared at her curly red hair as it bounced neatly on her shoulder. I never knew how my hair ended up being blond and her and my dad's hair red. I smiled a little thinking back to the day I thought my parents had adopted me. Turned out, I really was their kid, got to see the birth certificate and everything... good times.
"So?" my mom said completely interrupting my thoughts, "Do you need help or is everything alright."
I actually was about to say yes until I thought back to the last time she picked out my outfit. Worst. Day. Of. My. Life.
I guess she was getting inpatient because she started tapping her pink polka dotted flats against the floor.
I look her dead in her bright green eyes and said, "Mom, thanks for asking, really, but I think I got it from here." I said while giving her a reassuring smile.
"Whatever you say Lacey, have a good day at school today." My mom said right before retreating to her room.
Ok, now that I’m done with mom, what to wear, what to wear.....
"Everyday I’m shufflin!" My dad said while entering my room and from what I could see, he was trying to shuffle, and it did not look to good.
I laughed while watching my dad’s red floppy hair shaking all over the place, he was wearing a new business suit which means it was going to be a busy day at his office today. I was holding my stomach still laughing at my dad trying to dance.
"Shufflin! Shufflin!" he said while motioning for me to do it to. Hmmm... Do I want to embarrass myself dancing around like a complete idiot with my dad? Definitely not, but it’s not like there's anyone else to witness...
Before I knew it, I was up and shufflin with my dad until we cracked up laughing and fell onto my bed.
"Hope I started off your day off in the right mood for you Lace cakes."
(Why, oh why did my dad love to give me these embarrassing nick names?)
"Absolutely." I said with a huge grin.
After that, we just relaxed on my bed until my dad broke the silence and said, “So, any big goals this year.”
My dad totally knew me, every year I always had certain goals I had to fulfill before the end of the year. This year goals were:
1. Somehow manage to win Jake’s heart. (Jake is one of the coolest guys in the school and he is amazingly attracting. I think what made me fall for him was his incredible light brown hair that fell perfectly above his thick eyebrows. And let me not forget about his brown eyes, oh my gosh! I love a guy with brown eyes)
2. Become Homecoming queen. (From where my social status is right now, this will be impossible to accomplish)
3. Be an “IT” girl. (Again impossible)
I thought back over my list and noticed how unbelievably hard these goals would be. I looked over at my dad who was still waiting for an answer, “I guess to make good grades and that’s it.” I said with a shrug.
“That’s my girl.” He said with a huge smile. He got up gave me a big kiss on my forehead and said, “See you after school.” He added before finally leaving my room.
I finally got up and decided to pick something out of the closet. Hmm...

I studied myself in the mirror, my long light blonde hair was put into a messy ponytail, I was wearing my white Capri shorts with a plain dark blue singlet. Not as cute as I was going for but whatever, lastly I put on my blue flip flops to match the top.
I was startled by a loud knock at my door, “Come in.”
And there was my best friend Rebecca standing in my door way, she looked amazing with her long silky black hair. She had on her brown leopard print pants, (so Rebecca) with a cute black crop top that side, “Wild One” in silver, to finish it all up, she had on a few bangles up her arm. I did notice she looked a little taller than me, then I saw the shoes, they were the newest Candies stilettos.
“Oh heck no. You are defiantly not leaving the house in whatever that’s supposed to be.” She said pointing at my outfit.
“What you have any better suggestions?” I said smirking.
“As a matter of fact, I do.” She said pulling a giant bag from behind her back.
Crap, I muttered to myself.
