Once again couldn’t sleep so I decided to write. Again I DO NOT own any references to any shows, movies, books, or anything else. I also DO NOT own any pictures that I use for media I just found them on Google Images. The only thing I do own is the story line. Now on with the story.
(Picture on the side is of Jamila)

As I site here on the river bank sharpening my weapons I can’t help but to continue feel anxious. Normally sharpening my weapons calms me down but this time it doesn’t seem to help. It just keeps reminding me of mind impending task which only seems to add onto my anxiety.
At least with training I had something to occupy my mind. Now with training being canceled I have nothing. Great.
As I look out into the horizon I see movement in the corner of my vision. Out of nowhere a spotted leopard comes toward me. It takes me a minute to recognize that it was Jade. Her mother Arrow was with me since the tribe found me. Arrow never left my side till she passed onto the next life about a year ago. Jade has been with me since she was born and hasn’t left my side since her mother’s passing. This is the first time in a few years I haven’t seen her for about a week.
“Hey you. Where have you been these past week? I was getting really worried.”
I ask her as she lies down next to me.
She just looked at me.
“Oh right you wouldn’t tell me even if you could.”
Whenever I need someone to talk. I would talk to Jade.
“I see Jade Has finally decided to reappear.”
Dakarai says as he approaches Jade and I.
“Yeah. I was beginning to worry. The only reason why I wasn’t freaking out was because I knew she could handle herself.”
“I will never understand your friendship with this cat.”
“You just don’t understand her like I do.”
“Whatever you say. I had a feeling you would be here.”
“It seems I’ve been spending more and more time here ever since I received the task. I can’t believe it’ll be sixteen years on the same day as the task.”
“It’s hard to believe. You’ve gone from being a scared little girl with a guardian leopard to being one of the most dangerous girls this empire has ever seen.”
“And it’s all thank to the training you and Jamila beat into my head.”
“Would you rather being trained by anyone else.”
“Nope.”
“I thought so. Just think the sooner you complete your task the sooner you get to be Matriarch and Poison Mistress.”
“Yeah and that means you and Jamila won’t have to deal with the council and tribe politics. I will.”
“Now you’re catching on.”
“Whatever you say Dakarai. Do you think the traitor in the council has anything to do with the informant Hondo has.”
“It’s a possibility. Have you told Aziza about what really happened that night?”
“No and how did you find out about that?”
“A few nights after it happened I overheard you telling Jade about the whole ordeal. Why didn’t you tell her?”
“I don’t know. I guess it’s because I didn’t want her to hate me. I just hope I made the right decision on not telling her yet.”
“You’re a smart girl if things go bad you’ll figure out a way to get Aziza to understand your reasons.”
“I hope so.”
Lord Hondo’s P.O.V. at the palace
Its been two days since my informant told me about the tribes assignment and we have yet to see them take any action.
“Lord Hondo I see you finally returned to the palace.”
“Kanika why have you not gotten on the boat that is to take you, your mother, and your sister to the other palace.”
“I wanted to see you. I was also wondering if you have taken up my parents offer to become my husband ultimately becoming the next Pharaoh.”
“I already have a fiance.”
“Amunet is dead. Why won’t you move on?”
“That is none of your concern.”
“Yes it is."
"Think whatever you want Princess but my heart will never belong to you."
“Lord Hondo I need to speak with you. And Kanika you need to join your mother and sister on the boat bound for the other palace.”
We both turn and see the Pharaoh approaching the both of us.
“Of course father.” With that Kanika leaves but not without giving me a suggestive glance. It wasn’t until Kanika was out of sight that Pharaoh turned back to me and started speaking.
“I see my daughter has her sights set on you.”
“With all due respect I do not return Kanika’s affections. My heart will always belong to another.”
“Emerald?”
“Yes.”
“That is actually what I wanted to talk to you about. Are you sure this informant of yours has the right person? The one who killed Emerald?"
“He was right about the last four thefts and the last seven assassination attempts. If anyone knows how the Northern tribe works. Its him.”
“I hope for his sake that he’s right.”
“If he’s wrong I’ll deal with him myself.”
“Yes. I just wish that Emerald would be returned to us. Are you sure that you would not reconsider marrying Kanika.”
“No. Again with all due respect Pharaoh even if I were to marry Kanika it would be a loveless marriage. And I don’t want that. Besides Kanika only wants to get married so she can become queen. With all due respect Pharaoh if Kanika is allowed to become queen then the Empire is condemned to catastrophe.”
“You think I don’t know that? Every Pharaoh before including myself has worked to make this empire as successful as it is. If Kanika is allowed to take over then everything will be destroyed. If only Amunet was still alive. How did you find this supposed informant in the first place.”
“It wasn’t until about two years ago when we had a run in with the Northern tribe. I was cornered and one of them had a knife to my throat. When she was about to kill me I mentioned Amunet’s nickname and she froze. At first I thought it was because of the fact how we thought they were the ones to kill her. But when she said that they never killed a girl named Amunet but there were rumors that another tribe had, the Southern tribe. That got me thinking. If she wasn't killed by the Northern tribe then the tribe had killed her. Then she lets me go and says I’ve given her more to think about and that’s when I figured she had to know something about Amunet's probable death.”
“Well we’ll find out in two days when it happens. Do the guards know what to do?”
“Yes Bomani has informed them with all they need to know.”
“Hopefully this all pays off in the end.”
“As you said Pharaoh we shall see in two days."
