Look, I'm a goddess. Old or not, a goddess is a goddess. I don't understand what makes my Father think that I'm immature! I AM A VERY WISE GODDESS.
All I asked for was a trip to Camp Half Blood. It is really boring to just stare at it from Hephaestus TV. I wanted a closer look. I wanted to meet the demigods. To know them in person. But Father Zeus thinks it is irrelevant.
Okay, so a little rewinding of time here. Let me tell you what his words were exactly. So, I went in the throne room where he was casually sitting on his throne. The air was warm. Beads of sweat trickled down my forehead. No I was not nervous. It was the heat. To my left, Ares and Dionysus were gossiping about something. Towards my right, Apollo was beaming (sunlight), for no reason.
"Father," I called.
All four Gods turned towards me in unison. Long story. I'll explain later.
"Father Zeus," I said.
The rest went to minding their own businesses.
"I am leaving for camp," I continued
"Delilah, we have had this conversation before," he said.
"No...... This time I'm not asking but telling you that I'm leaving."
Apollo stopped beaming. The room went silent.
Zeus shot up. "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU? YOU SHALL NOT LEAVE OLYMPUS. THOSE ARE MY ORDERS!" he yelled.
I flinched at his tone. "I s--said I am telling. So I'll go even if you t--tell me otherwise." I gulped.
He sat down on his throne, without missing my gaze. He was staring right into my eyes. He could read them. I knew he was.
"And disobey your father?" His voice was extremely silent. "I don't expect that from you."
The temperature in the room increased drastically. The air was still. At this moment, it should have been my cue to shut my mouth and leave. But I didn't. I wanted answers. I wanted to know why he never let me visit Earth.
"Wha--Wh--- Why father? Why shall I not leave Olympus? ...Just one trip---"
"No more words!"
I looked in his eyes. I could not read them. But they were really furious.
"Why don't you just let me live?" I almost shouted the word 'live'. I did not want to argue. But I wasn't thinking. All Gods and Goddesses visited the mortal world. Some even lived there. Then why was it only me whom Zeus had to forbid. Why only me? My divine heart started to pace.
"You are not leaving Olympus. That's it!" He said.
"Tell me something new! A hundred and two years of my divine existence and I have not even once stepped into the mortal world." I pleaded. "Please, just once. I beg you!"
Zeus shook his head. "How stubborn! Just give up that stupid idea already."
He stepped down his pedestal and started to leave. He mumbled something under his breath. I caught on a few words like "Holy me! How immature a goddess. I blame Apollo..."
"No wait," I blurted. Suddenly I did not care anymore. Even if he was my respectful father, the king of Olympus, I didn't care. Zeus stopped in his tracks and turned around just slightly.
"You hate me. You hate me, don't you? That is why you forbid only me from visiting the mortal world. Because you can't see me happy!" I had had this thought in my mind for weeks. But I regretted it as soon as I said it.
Zeus flinched. His face lost its colors. His eyes shifted from side to side. His expression was a mix of regret, remorse and horror. I had never seen that face before. Then he glanced at me once again before pacing out of the throne room. Styx! I should know when to stop! I shouldn't have said that.
"You call that a fight?! Aw that was boring," Ares barked.
I sighed.
"I don't care. I will go," I chirped.
I waited for a response, but it turned out that obviously my father didn't hear my last words.
I grinned evilly. You know, I always have to have the last words in an argument. It is oddly satisfying.
"Delilah," Dionysus whispered so silently, I couldn't have guessed the word if it wasn't my own name.
"I'm sick of this schist," I muttered.
Adrenaline rushed through my divine veins. From the corner of my eye, I could see Ares grinning. I ran out of the throne room and rushed towards the gates. I leaned in to look below. I could hear the bustling of the New Yorkers. I could totally imagine the sweet life of mortals. I turned to face the Palace, triumphantly. My feelings were all muffled versions of rage.
"BYE," I said as I dived into the mortal world.
