Callie looked down at him confused and slowly let go of his hand and walked out. Brandon had fallen asleep due to all the pain meds he was put on. She looked at him from the door and sighed as she walked out. She smiled at Stef and Lena as she walked outside. She walked slowly to the house and calmed everyone there down and confirmed he was okay. She went into her room and shut the door. She sat there thinking to herself, 'What was he talking about... it was just the drugs right?' The thoughts kept coming and she looked at her phone and she heard a knock at her door.
"Cal?" it was Stef, "It's open." she yelled out looking at the door. "Hey." Stef said walking in sitting on the edge of the bed. "You alright? You seemed pretty shaken up when you left the hospital." She nodded, "Yeah, it was just weird finding him like that I guess..." she says looking down. "I'm really tired so.." "Yeah. Thanks, goodnight" She said looking back at me as she closed the door. Callie laid down and sighed. It was 12:30 as she slowly fell asleep.
Callie woke up from her sleep, well dozing, and looked at her phone, 2:45. Callie sat back up and threw on some jean shorts and a hoodie. She quietly snuck down the stairs and out the front door. She knew where she needed to go, to see Brandon.
After a twenty minute walk she walked in the side doors and up to the third floor where Brandon was stayin. She looked into the room through the door window. Seeing he was asleep she opened the door and sat in a chair next to the door. She looked at him and quietly sighed. She didn't know what to think, After everything that had happened between them she was confused what he was talking about earlier. She cared about him more than she let on. Wyatt was a great guy and she cared about him, but Brandon, a look or a smile from him could just make everything seem better. Brandon sat up and she held her breath, "I know you're in here Cal..." he says softly. She sighs and gets up walking over to his bed. "How are you feeling?" She asks sitting on the side gently. "I'm okay, but better question is why are you here at... 3 am?" he asks looking at her suspiciously. "Well, I couldn't sleep and I wanted to make sure everything was okay..." She smiled at him with a half-smile and sighed. "I'll survive... just hope my hand does." he looks at the wrap around his smashed hand.
"You can go back to sleep. Just ignore me." Callie said standing up off the bed. "Cal? is something up?" he asked her. "No, I mean, yeah. I'm just thinking.." she said flustered. He grabbed her hand with his good hand and looked at her. "You can tell me anything Callie." he says looking into her light brown eyes. She shrugged, "I'll be okay, don't worry about me." "Callie, I always worry about you." Callie slightly blushes and turns away.
"Just go back to sleep." she smiles and walks to the door. "I just needed to know everything is okay." "Good night Callie." "Night." Brandon watched her walked away and sighed closing his eyes but not falling back asleep.
Callie walked around town until sunrise. She walked to the beach as the sun rose over the waves. She sat on the shore letting the tide wash over her feet. "I thought I'd find you here." She heard a voice from behind. It was a voice she knew so well and usually smiled when she heard. Wyatt sat down beside her and looked out over the water, "How is Brandon doing?" He asked her. She sighed, "He's okay, upset. His hand is shattered, he may not be able to play piano like he used to." Wyatt wrapped his arm around her shoulder and she leaned into his side, "Wyatt... " she started, "What's wrong?" He asked looking down at her. "With everything going on... I think we should just be friends" she whispered gently moving his arm. He let her move from his arm but he took her hand gently, "I'm not letting you go. I know you care about him, hell, you may still love him, but he's hurt you, he is your brother. Callie, I love you, I need you. I'll fight until he does. If he starts fighting for you, I will step aside. But be honest, he hasn't and he wont..." Callie was shocked but knew he was right. Though she didn't know what she felt for Brandon, she really cared for Wyatt. She smiled and nodded at him, "Okay, thank you." she whispers and leans in to kiss him. He kisses her back and wraps his arm around her again, which she lets and leans into him looking out at the water.
"Crap, I have work in an hour!" Callie says jumping up, "I'll drive you." Wyatt says standing up and taking her hand. They walk to his car in the most comfortable silence they've ever experienced. "So, music?" He asks as he turns the car on she turns on their favorite radio station as he pulls onto the road. They take the long way to the burger shack Callie worked at, laughing and jamming out to the music the whole way. He parked in front, Daphne was standing outside and Callie let Wyatt kiss her cheek before she got out. He drove off and Callie let out a loud sigh. She grabbed an apron and clocked in before she began working. "Well, someone looks like they are in a really good mood." Daphne says about an hour into work. "What?" Callie asks shrugging, "Can't I have a good morning?" she asked laughing. She puts on her apron, "Well, no, not mrs. nothing ever is good" Daphne says shaking her head. "Plus, didn't Brandon get into some trouble last night?" she asked her. "Wait, how did you know that?" Callie asked surprised. "Well, someone leaves her phone around." She laughs, "I called you last night and Lena answered and told me what was going on." Callie nodded, her smile had faded. Callie sat down and told Daphne everything, about the fake IDs, Vico getting kicked off the team, and last night. "It was just a long night. Brandon got in a fight and I found him in his car all... broken." she sighed. "And then they wouldn't let me go with him and then when I got there they took him into surgery. But..." She stops and looks out to the road, "Let's just drop it." "Girl, you started it, let's finish it. Do you still like him?" She asked, "I didn't, at least I didn't think so. But I couldn't sleep last night after everything and I walked to the hospital to check on him. Then this morning I started to break up with Wyatt but he wouldn't let me, he said Brandon never fought for me and he would until B starts." "Well, Callie, you have an amazing guy, he cares for you. But sometimes you gotta trust your gut." Daphne says as she gets up and goes back to work.
Callie had a secret place on the beach. She found it during the first month she was there. It was a small cave on the edge of the water, if you weren't careful the tide could drown you in it. She found herself in the cave after work. She pulled up some music on her phone and looked out at the water. She sang along with the music
If you ask me how I'm doin'
I would say I'm doin' just fine
I would lie and say that you're not on my mind
But I go out
And I sit down
At a table set for two
And finally I'm forced to face the truth
No matter what I say
I'm, not over you
"You're really no over him..." Callie turns to see Wyatt. "What? It's just a song." She says walking to him. "Will I ever not feel like you're just settling for me." "I promise, I'm not." She wraps her arms around Wyatt's neck and he wraps his arms around her waist. "I love you Callie." "I love you Wyatt." As she kisses him she hears footsteps in the sand. They pull away from each other and turn to see Brandon. He nods and turns away walking off. Wyatt kisses her head, "Go after him, make sure he's okay. But you're still mine." She laughs and runs after Brandon.
