"Christmas Pudding"
It starts many weeks before
buying all manner of fruit galore.
Soaking in quality rum or brandy
not just whatever alcohol is handy!
Another spoonful just prior to serve
set alight for that blue flame verve.
Ice cream, custard or cream at hand
though I've never found the pudding bland.
Savouring each morsel with glee
incase of the threepenny bit you see.
Knowing grandpa will soon pretend pain
having that bit caught in his throat again.
Seeming to have circum to another disaster
We finish off with rounds of laughter.
