~Brittney~

I just barely looked over in time to see it. I saw it all. I wish I hadn't. The arrow pierced my best friend's chest when she jumped in front of Alexis. I knew she didn't have a great chance of survival, but the odds didn't stop me from racing to my sister. Starr was collapsed on the ground, Alexis kneeling over here, tears running down her cheeks.

"Why would you do that?" Starr just smiled weakly. Tears dotted the decaying grass.

"Somebody help us!" My calls were answers by several. Annabeth, Emily, Mavis, and the rest of the Elementals. I had propped Starr's head up on my knees, hoping it would help, but knowing it wouldn't.

"Oh my gods!" Mavis practically screamed the statement when she saw what had happened. "What happened?!"

"She jumped in front of the arrow. Why, why would you do that?" Alexis hadn't left her state of hysteria.

"Why would I let my sister die?" Starr asked, tears swelling in her eyes also. She looked at me in turn. "You...have to promise me something." Her breaths were getting slower and shakier.

"Stay with us, okay?"

"Promise me something. Please." I nodded weakly. Starr's golden hair caught the sunlight, veiling her pale face in a wreath of dazzling color.

"You're going to blind us all." Mavis said, laughing meekly.

"I'll just turn it off." Starr managed a laugh, then turned serious. "Brittney, promise...."

"Starr," I was warning her, a reprimand. "don't leave me."

"Promise me that...you will...all remember me." Annabeth was wiping her eyes and sniffling. Our group surrounding our dying friend were all in the same position. "Annabeth, don't...give up. Okay?" Annabeth nodded. "Mavis, Eric, Rilo, Merisa, stay...strong. I...know you can." Starr's breaths were growing rapid and forced. My heart sunk to my stomach. "Emily, thank you. Thank you all for what you have done for me."

Eric held out his arms for a sobbing Mavis. Rilo had his hands on Merisa's shoulders. Annabeth sat on the left side of Starr, Alexis on her right, Emily kneeled at her feet.

"We won't forget you." Annabeth reassured Starr, as her eyes were losing their life.

"Kind of ironic, huh? Brought down by my own weapon of choice." We all laughed through the tears.

"Starr?" She looked at Annabeth. "Say hi to Percy in Elysium for me." Starr nodded, smiling.

"You guys are my best friends. You all mean so much to me. I hate goodbyes, so I'll just say see you later, okay? I love you all, thank you." The fade of breath, the closing of the eyes. Death.
