Chapter four is written in both Paris's and Eudora's POV, showing both girls' feelings and experiences during the ball and with the boys.
»Paris's POV«Right now, we are in a silent car ride on the way to the ball where we will be in a forced engagement to the Prescott boys.
Eudora and I really haven't spoken that much this morning, besides when I tried to talk mom and dad out of this crap. But I should've known that wouldn't work. I had to try though.
Our mother breaks the silence in the car. "Listen girls." She says before pausing and looking at us through the mirror. "The Prescott boys are going to be waiting for you when we get there and you will allow them to escort you into the building and you shall both act with manners."
A small groan escapes my lips and Eudora looks at me then back to the floor of the car.
Our father speaks up and says, "There will be no complaining or bad behavior because there will be consequences if so."
I sigh and roll my eyes and look out the window at the trees passing fastly in my view.
"At least pretend to have fun." Our mother speaks harshly towards us and we both frown and say in unison, "No."
We earn an eye roll from Mother and a head shake from Father. Then I see it. The huge palace where our future will change for life.
I look over at Eudora. She sees it. Her face has paled a little and it breaks my heart. I reach out and hold her hand and she looks at me and gives my hand a light squeeze.
Earlier this morning we had hugged and I kissed her cheek. When I am with her, my heart is complete. I dread the time when we will be separated in to two different house holds. I feel tears sting my eyes at the thought of this. I push that thought way deep inside me. Marriage is so stupid.
The car pulls up to the front of the palace, where a long stair case leads to the doors. I see Fall and Spring. I want to kick them both in-between the legs.
Fall comes to my door and opens it and holds out his hand for me to take. I hesitate before taking his hand and stepping out of the car. I look over and see that Spring has done the same for Eudora. I hold back the urge to punch him for touching my sister.
I look over at our parents and they are smiling at us, but I frown at them. How could parents willingly let their 17 year old daughters get married to jerks? I guess I will never understand.
Fall and Spring lead us into the palace where there is a classical band playing and rich people congregating.
"Hello, fiancée." Fall says as he looks at me with a smirk on his face and I roll my eyes.
"C'mon, don't act like your not excited to marry this." He says as he motions to his body and face. I make a disgusted face.
"Not in the least." I state as I make direct eye contact with him.
"You think I wanna marry you?" He asks then laughs. "Why would I want to marry an ugly hag?"
I glare at him and say, "Your name is Fall. Was your parents high when they named you? Or did they drop you on your head? Oh no the baby fell down! Let's call him Fall now!" I laugh.
He returns my glare with one of his own and gets closer to my face. "At least I can use my powers."
"At least I don't smell like a chimpanzee." I say with smirk. Two can play this game.
"Listen, Paris." He says my name as if it pains him. "Your going to be my little wife, whether you like it or not. Your going to have my children, whether you like it or not. And, your going to do what I say, whether you like or not. I'm the boss. I know you try to act all strong willed and tough but I'm going to break you down, slowly, until you give in."
Usually, words or people don't scare me. But he made chills run up my spine and my face pale and he knows it because a long smirk stretches across his face. I want to go home. I want Eudora. Where is she? I look around and I can't see her.
I try to get away from Fall but his grip gets tighter on my hand. "Oh no you don't. Your staying with me and we're going to act like a happy couple." He says.
"I just want to find my sister." I plea but he laughs and his grip gets tighter and a soft whimper escapes my lips.
"Aww, did that hurt?" He asks mockingly as he continues squeezing the life out of my hand. I look around with pleading eyes but nobody notices. They're too distracted by all the expensive things.
