(Renesmee)
I walk up the white carpeted stairs to my bedroom in the main house, and my dad, Edward, follows me. "Dad, I just want some time to myself!" I say still walking forward. "Ness, are you okay?" he asks still following me. "Absolutely fine." I turn and say to him with a trustworthy facial expression and a light smile. He seemed to let go the breath he was holding, and hug me. "I want you to be okay," he says lovingly. He pulls back and grasps me by the shoulders. "I need you to be okay." his voice slips into a more serious tone. He lets me go and joins the debate between Uncle Emmett and Uncle Jasper.
I stay in my room for a while and think about my Jacob. He seems to be always there for me. He picks me up when I fall, and defends me when Uncle Emmett decides to pick on me. He always seems to tell my emotions about when Uncle Jasper starts to sense them, when I am sad he seems to beat Uncle Jasper to it. He seems to care for me like a brother, and a best friend all wrapped into one. He is my Jacob. My Jacob. I love the sound of that. My Jacob. My Jacob.
"Ness, you need breakfast!" I hear Grandma call. "Okay!" I answer knowing she can hear. I glance at the clock. 10:01 AM. Watching the arm wrestling match, Between Momma and Uncle Emmett last night so late had me sleep for a while, then disappearing up to my room made the time tick later and later. "Ness, baby, you coming?" Momma calls her nerves leaking into her voice. "Coming Momma!" I answer a bit louder than I did responding to Grandma. I leap lightly down the first staircase, then go to the second out of the three.
As I get towards the bottom, my foot slides, shooting me forward, head first to the last step. I grab my elbow in an attempt to break the fall, but instead, I fall on my wrist. Crack. A pain like fire shoots into my hand, and up my arm like a running stream. "Ahh!!" Is all I can get out in a voice quieter than a whisper. I collect myself to the point where I don't let out a wail, then try again. "Ahhh!!" I moan in a regular pitch. All the family is by my side in seconds.
"Renesmee!" Aunt Alice breaths in horror.
"Ness?" Aunt Rose asks, her face near mine.
"Nessie can you hear us?" Jacob asks holding my noninjured hand.
"Pain, all I am getting is pain!" Jasper says to Momma.
"My baby, Renesmee," Momma says in between sobs.
"Get her to Carlisle!!" Jacob says in a cry.
"I'll go get some ice!" Nanna runs to the kitchen.
"Good idea," Emmett whispers.
They carry me into Carlisle office and lay me down on a soft hospital chair. "Ahh!" I groan, clutching my wrist with my one good hand. "It hurts!" I say seeing Jacob's eyes well with tears. I am in pain. So he is in pain. "Jacob, I am so sorry!" I barely manage to say, crying my eyes out while flailing my other arm out to hug him.
Carlisle comes through the door. "What happen--- Oh my gosh! Renesmee, sweetie! What happened?" "She was walking down the stairs and then she slipped on the last step and fell." My father said staying close at my side. "Ahh ahh mmm!" I moaned tossing and turning around like a 4-year-old mad about not getting a new toy. Well... I am a 4-year-old, but I am definitely not pitching a fit over a toy.
"Judging from the fact that she is clutching her wrist into her chest, I think she has a Colles Pronod Fracture on her right wrist." Carlisle states. "And in English?" Jake asks. "That is one of the most common wrist fractures. On a regular person it would take from around 6-8 weeks, but because of your accelerated growth reaction, I would guess that you would heal from maybe... 2-3 weeks." Carlisle says to Jacob, putting Renesmee into a bright purple cast.
"That's right before your birthday!" Jacob said as his tears left only some residue on his face. "That's great!!" I said, still shocked from the pain my wrist had given me. My mother put her hand on my cast. I winced in pain and she threw her hand back. "Baby! I am so sorry!" My Mom said. "Mom it's okay, but just don't touch it please!" I say, not trying to snap at my Mom. "Aww! Baby, anything for you," she says trying to fake a smile, then turns away, as if she was crying. Only all I could hear were dry sobs coming through her chest and mouth. No tears.
Vampires can't cry! I tell myself. Though if she was human, my Mother would be crying up a thunderstorm in the tropics. My Mother is so theatrical, but I love her so much. I know that if she were human she would sleep all day. And cry when I got hurt. And eat a nice family dinner with me. And not drink blood like there is no tomorrow.
I am snapped out of my thoughts by Grandpa asking me a question. "What?" I ask quietly, ashamed that I completely tuned him out. "Ness?! I asked how bad it hurt on a scale of 1 to 10." Carlisle said looking at me with wide eyes. "Oh... Umm. Maybe a 4? 5? 6?" I said unsure of how bad it really was. Momma looks at me with wide golden eyes, and I lift my good hand and press it to her cheek. I am okay, really I think, then remember falling so she can see. Her hand flies to her lips, as I collect myself in her head, then moan louder.
She pulls my hand away from her face, then storms from the room, and I hear her take all her pain and anger out on Alice. My dad follows her out. "How could you not see her Alice!" Momma roars. "She was in pain on the ground for a solid minute, and you didn't see anything!" Momma's voice goes very low and very calm. "If you ever miss something so important again I swear that I will, I will---" her voice breaks, and she falls into dry sobs again. Alice pats her back with an 'understanding' face on. Momma climbs into Dad's arms seeming to choke on her sobs again. I close my eyes, remembering that my head was at eye level with my hand. I must have hit it too. The ceiling and figures around me turn a bright blue as I start to lose consciousness. The last thing I hear before I black out is my Momma howling my name. "Renesmee!"
