Jacob and Renesmee

Chapter 9

(Renesmee)

"I got distracted! Besides Momma, I want to hunt." I say looking at her. "Baby, are you sure?" My Mom asks. "You haven't hunted in days honey!" Mom says. She is always so frantic! "I am sure." I say to her. "Okay I will go get everyone--" Mom starts to say as I interrupt her. "No-- I want this to be just me and you." I say walking towards my Mom. I hug her softly and then go sit on my bed. "Okay honey. I think that will be fun." Mom says. "But mom? I overheard you talking about us moving and I just wanted to say that I fully support that idea. Jacob says that he is coming too, and that is all that was stopping me from going."I say to Mom. She smiles at me. "I love you honey." She says responding to my huge comment. "I love you too Mom." I smirk with happiness.

We walk down the stairs and Daddy stops us. "Where are you two going?" He asks. "On a hunt!" I say back to him. "I'll go get your jacket, then we will leave." He says reaching for the coat closet. "Uh... Hold up there! This is a 'Mother-daughter' hunt. No men allowed!" My Mom says, walking down the last few steps. My Dad smacks her butt and then mine. "Hey!" I say at him. He smiles at my comment. I grab my jacket from his hand.

We walk out the front door and I realize that it is actually a very nice day outside. The sun is shining and the trees are a bright forest green. "I am going to miss Forks." My Mom says. "I met Edward and Jacob here, and I had the most amazing life. It took being a vampire to realize that, but I know it now. I really did have a great life. Now I can't even talk to my dad without him knowing that I am still 18." My Mother says, smiling at the flowers in the forest. "Well at least you don't look like you are 14 but you are really only four." I say, trying to make her feel better. "Yea I guess you're right Renesmee." My Mom says to me, bunching up her eyebrows. "Rosalie once told me that after you turn into a vampire, you have nothing to do. You eventually get very bored with your life, but I wouldn't have it any other way." She says. "I have so many people in my life who love me. I wouldn't change anything for that." She says with a calming yet comforting voice.

"While death is inevitable for humans, I will live on." I frown at that. "Mom? This question has been bothering me for a while, so I guess I should ask now. What if after a few years of being fully-grown, I die?" I ask her, a little afraid of the answer. "Renesmee, I don't know. But if the time comes, we will figure it out." She says. Then in the distance I see a deer grazing the grass. "I call it!" I say running into the woods. "Okay but I get the next one!" "Hey! You can't call it before you see it!" I say, stomping my foot. "I can too!" She says running next to me. "All right I'll let it slide this time kiddo!" I say jokingly. "And uh... Who is the older one here?" She says smiling. "I don't know. 'Cause you are acting an awful lot like a four-year-old!" I say smiling back at her. "You better watch it, I still am your mother." She says with a sharp tone, then breaks into a grin. "Kidding!" She says. "More like best friends." I say to her. "Yeah... Like best friends." She says repeating me.

She pauses, and smiles as she catches a scent seconds before me. "Dibs!" She yells, running at full speed towards an elk simply standing there without a care in the world. "Alright, I guess so!" I say at her. "Although, mine is much more juicy!" I say, fluttering one eyebrow upwards while smiling. "Oh my gosh! Renesmee!" She says laughing through her white teeth. "What? Jacob has tried to do it with me at least twice, but I said no! I think I can make a sex joke!" I say at her. "What?" My mom says. "I told him no, Mom." I say as her smile turns into a frown. "Does this mean that I need to have 'The talk' with you." Oh my gosh, she did not go there. "Mom!! Stop. Just stop. I haven't had sex." I say embarrassed. "I know honey, but just in case. You should---" "MOM! I am a virgin!!!" I yell loudly. "Oh my gosh! I can't believe I just yelled that..." I say laughing. She starts to laugh with me. That's a good sign. "Alright, lets go kill some food, we will finish this conversation later." "Do we have to?" I groan, and she laughs. "Yes, my daughter is having a sexual relationship with my best friend. We need to talk about this!" She says. I groan again.

"Mom, can we just go finish our meal?" I ask sadly. "Yes honey. I am also very proud that my daughter resisted one of the sexiest men I know." She says. I laugh. "He is pretty sexy." I say back to her. She raises an eyebrow at me, then the 'look' on her face turns into a smile. "Alright honey, lets go finish up." My Mom says. "Yes please." I say laughing loudly.

We have to run some more to catch up with the deer. They ran far while we were talking about... Nevermind that. Once we caught up to them, we grabbed them and held them down. Both of us sinking our teeth deeply into our prey. sucking the life out of two innocent creatures. I release the deer's body from my grip and walk over to my Mother. "Do you think this is wrong?" I ask questioning our hunt. "We can't help it. We need it to stay alive. Humans kill animals for food as well, it just isn't as gruesome as the way vampires hunt." She says placing an arm around my shoulders. "Okay. Yeah, I guess you are right. Everyone kills animals, no matter what type of creature they are." I say truthfully. "I just can't help but think that we are taking lives that wouldn't have been taken if we hadn't been here, but I know now that there are other terrible people and that we are probably saving more lives than taking." I move my arm towards my Mom. "This was fun Renesmee. We should do this again sometime. I like talking with you. You don't seem like a daughter to me when with have conversations. You are more like a best friend to me." "Yeah." I say back to her giving a small hug.

"Lets go home and have a snack. How about strawberry shortcake?" Mom asks. "Okay I guess that could be fun." I say, and we walk back to the main house.

On the left I see a short flicker of light. "Did you see that Mom?" I ask gradually getting closer to my Mother. Fear swallows my eyes. "What? Did you see something? Show me." My hand gravitates to her face and I show her the small flicker of light. "I'm am sure that it was just sunlight through the trees honey." "I don't think so Mom. I can smell something." I say holding on to her with tight fingers. "I am scared Mom." I say slowly moving backwards. "Lets go to the house Mom. Like... Now." I say running to the house with full speed. My Mom strides behind me. I walk in the house, move to the fridge, and pull out two mounds of strawberry shortcake.
