End of time

Chapter 3

You rub the sleep out your eyes as you walk towards your door. Its 5am and you had work in exactly 2 hours who in their right mind would be knocking at your door at this time.
"Are you serious" you groan as your hand makes contact with the door handle. You pull the door open to see Joseph with his hands in his pockets looking back at you with a strange expression on his face.
"Joseph what are you-"
"I couldn't hold this in anymore y/n" he rushes out
"May I come in" you were taken aback from his outburst but you step to the side anyway.
"Are you okay, do you need anything?" you pull your cardigan over you tighter as you sat next to him.
"Do you-Do you like Barry" You look up at Joseph and your throat instantly drys.
"We're just friends-"
"But you're always smiling in each others face I like you a lot y/n and I want you to be mine only I don't want to share you with another guy" He grabs a hold of your hands and you resist the urge to pull away from him. Lately Joseph has been a little clingy and with things going down at Star Labs that he doesn't know about and never will because you don't plan on telling him anytime soon, you might just cut the soon to be relationship short.
"Joseph, Barry is engaged alright but now that you brought up the topic I actually need to talk to you about something" you sigh and look at the floor this wasn't going to be easy, Joseph was a sensitive guy and he liked you a lot but you can't bring him in this meta human chaos.
" I think we should take a break, well just stop whatever this is we got going on" you whisper and he aggressively pulls away from you.
"So it is Barry" he growls
"No its not, my life is just really complicated at the moment and I need some time to think" you could tell that everything you were saying was going through one ear and out the other. He wasn't gonna listen to you anytime soon.
"You're so full of it y/n, everytime I wanna do something you always say you're busy honestly I just think you were with Barry the entire time" You put a hand on your chest and mentally roll your eyes, yes what Joseph just said may partially be true. You have indeed been busy with Savitar running around you were always at Star Labs helping Barry out any way you can and with you being a forensic nurse you basically became a regular at the CCPD.
"Joseph I had important matters to attend too I can't just drop everything I'm doing for you" This argument was giving you a sense of Dèjà vu. You had a similar argument with Barry about you being gone 24/7.

"Whatever, just do what you have to do" and with that Joseph slams the door, leaving you frustrated.

The next day you walk into Star Labs feeling very annoyed from your argument with Joseph and your long day at work.
"Hi guys, what we looking at" you lean against the desk and rub your eyes, silently praying no one would ask you what's wrong.
"Well uh, we may know who Savitar is" Barry folds his arms as he stares at your tired figure.
"That's great, so um...who is it"
"I'm going to the future to figure that out actually" You put your hands down and tilt your head, clearly disagreeing with Barry's statement.
"Barry are you crazy time travel is what got us into this mess in the first place" you frown
"Oh come on y/n everybody is fine with it, how come you aren't?" Barry bites his lip and walks toward you and you step back from him.
"It's called being cautious Barry, this isn't a good Idea we can find another way" you turn your back to walk away when suddenly you were in the hallway.
"Y/n please, how come you're not in on this" You looked into Barry's eyes and sigh as you face the ground.
"I just can't let you do this Barry, something could go wrong or you could get hurt" you whisper as the tears slowly fall down your face and Barry instantly wraps his arms around you
"Hey shhh, its alright I'm not gonna get hurt y/n but please I have to do this for Iris"
There it was again, of course Iris was okay with this.
"Fine do what you have to do Barry, but when you're done come home to me" you whisper as your grip tightens around his neck and another tear slides down your face.

It was the day Barry goes to the future and you were standing behind, watching him say goodbye to everyone.
You watched as he kisses Iris and you feel jealousy run through your veins. You still didn't agree with his plan but as long as he was coming back you were fine.
"Barry wait" you call out to the speedster and he turns around and looks at you, hope and desperation in his eyes.
"Don't be gone too long okay" he nods and hugs you like it was the last time seeing you.
He walks in the portal and the both of you maintain eye contact as the doors close
"Alright guys, back to work" you rub your hands on your pants as you go to walk away but you feel a hand on your arm and you turn to see Joe.
"Actually y/n I think you should go home and rest, we'll call you when Barry gets back"The older man's tone was hushed and you nod your head, maybe you do need rest.

You finally walk into your apartment and look around. It wasn't as spacious as you would like but it was all you could afford at the time. You walk over to the couch and look at the tv, debating on if you should actually watch it.
"Not right now" you mumble and take a seat on the farthest end on the couch.It was quiet, quiet enough for you to get lost in your thoughts.
You look to the side and see a picture frame. You and Barry were smiling at the camera with cake covered faces with Joe between the both of you. It had been Barry's birthday.
You let a small smile take over your features and put the picture frame faced down on the table.
You got up from the couch as walk into the kitchen trying to distract yourself from thinking about Barry but everything reminded you of him. You fix yourself some tea and sit back on the couch, thinking about what life would be like if you were with Barry.
