Richie mentally cursed himself as he watched his best friend pack up his things.  They had just spent the night together at Richie's house, but now Eddie was getting ready to leave.  He was watching the boy he had liked forever leave as just a friend, again.

Eddie pulled his backpack on around himself and smiled at Richie.  "I think I'm gonna head out."

Richie replied with a nod, not knowing what else to say.  "I'll walk you to the door."  Shit, Richie!  You should have just told him already. 

"Bye Richie!"

"Bye, Eds, I love you."

The door closed before either realized what happened.  Richie smiled and started walking upstairs, but then it hit him.  I just accidentally told Eddie I loved him.  He started panicking, feeling his palms get sweaty.  He froze as he heard a knock on the door.

He slowly walked towards, opening it to a wide-eyed Eddie.  "Hey, um, did you just say you loved me?" 

Richie shifted eye contact and looked away from Eddie.  "Uh, yeah, not intentionally though.  Like, um-"

Eddie laughed softly.  "I love you too, Richie."  He stood on his toes and planted a kiss on Richie's cheek.  "I'll see you later."

Richie stood there, shocked as to what just happened.  He watched Eddie pedal away.  "Yeah!  I'll see you too!"  But Eddie was too far away to hear. 

Richie walked back inside, feeling his heart beating out of his chest.  "Later."  He smiled.
