Hands intertwined together, Anne Wheeler and Phillip Carlyle walk outside into the bitter cold of winter. The silence of the night encases the couple, their faces barely visible in the minimal light. After a few minutes, Phillip looks up to the twinkling stars in the heavens above. "They are beautiful aren't they Anne?" His voice barely louder than a whisper.
His words come out of his mouth with a pale puff of smoke in the frigid air. Anne follows her partner's gaze up to the midnight blue sky. "Yeah." Anne says simply, her voice full of emotion. Phillip grips Anne's hand tighter, his gaze focusing on her face now.
The glow of the moonlight reflects off of the beautiful woman's face. Phillip starts to hum a soft, familiar tune under his breath and Anne meets Phillip's gaze. "How do we rewrite the stars?" She joins in with a gentle tone.
"Say you were made to be mine." Phillip calls back. The song becomes increasingly more powerful as well as loud.
"Nothing can keep us apart." Anne sings as she faces Phillip.
"Cause you are the one I was meant to find." Phillip slowly spins Anne around in time with the song, his hand still in hers.
"It's up to you. And it's up to me." Anne leaps up and Phillip grabs her by the waist, spinning her in the air. Anne stretches her arms out, the winter air stinging her bare hands.
"No one can say what we get to be." Anne sings out, a bright smile on her face. Emotion is noticeable in her powerful voice.
"And why don't we rewrite the stars?"
Phillip sets Anne back down on the ground gently and spins her once again."Changing the world to be ours." The two sing together. Their voices slowly fade out into the night. A passerby pays no attention to them as he crosses his way to a nearby home.
Anne stops spinning, her curly brown hair whipping around her beautiful face. A smile appears on Philip's face as he takes a step towards Anne. Anne steps closer as well and wraps her arms around his neck.
She places a gentle kiss on his lips and then grabs his hand. They walk back to the house Philip bought for the Oddities of P.T Barnum's Circus, taking their time.
"Phillip, can I ask you something?"
"What is it Anne?" Anne stops and turns to face the brown haired young man.
"I wanted to ask you if you. . ." Anne's words seem to fail her as tears fill her so brown eyes. Phillip walks forwards and wraps his arms around her. She rests her head on his shoulder and wraps her hands around his neck. Anne breathes in the cold air, steadying herself. She steps back and looks at Phillip, tears slowly streaming down her face.
"Are you okay?" Phillip asks, his eyes sympathetic. Anne nods silently, still looking at him. She takes in a deep breath and her eyes close for an instant.
"Please promise me that even though we may face adversity in the future that you will stay with me?" Anne says softly, tears still slowly falling down her face . "We both know that society will never accept us and-."
She cut off by the press of lips on to hers. "Does it look like I am going anywhere?" Phillip says softly as he pulls away from the kiss. He extends a hand up and gently wipes a tear from Anne's soft cheek. His hand sit on her cheek as he says, "I am more than willing to not be accepted by society if that mean that I get to spend my life with you."
He wipes more of her tears from her face. A slight smile appears on her face, her eyes still glistening with tears. He slips his hand into her calloused hand and they make their way back to the house.
