Chapter 1 - Truths and Flashbacks

“Mom! Wake up, please.” I shook her lifeless body. My sight was blurry from the tears, I just couldn’t get over the fact that she was dead. I sat next to her lifeless body, looking around her room. There was a glass of white wine and a bottle of pills that was half empty on the night stand next to her body. I just got the prescription filled how was it already half gone?

People were walking into the room, but I just sat there looking at my mother. Her blazing red curly hair sprawled on the floor, her once deep yet bright green eyes now lost all glimmer. I was the spitting image of her. People always called us twins despite the fact that she was 20 years older. I felt someone lift me in their arms and looked to see it was my older brother Jake. “Myanna, it’s ok. You’re going to be ok.” I felt him carry me to a car, before I blacked out.

I woke up to the sound of beeping, opening my eyes I saw Jake and my dad. The room was remarkable big, like a suite. “Daddy?” He rushed over to my side, holding my hand.

“You finally woke.”

 “What do you mean finally? How long have I been asleep?”

“Mya, you were in a coma baby.” I looked at him in disbelief.

“How long dad?”

“A few weeks, they said it’s because of the trauma you suffered from finding your mother de-“

“Don’t bring that up dad” I heard my brother interrupt him.

“Okay, I know I shouldn’t, but Mya did you know you are pregnant?” My head fell down, and I looked at my lap.

“Yes, I told mom the day I found her dead.”

“Who’s the father?”

“I.. I..” I felt tears start to stain my face.

I knew they were waiting for my response, but I wasn’t going to tell them. It was embarrassing.  

*Flashback*

Hearing the door bell ring I went to get it, seeing as I was the only one home. As I opened the door I was shocked to see who it was.

“Brandon, um, why are you here?”

“Mya, I have a confession. I love you. I have since the 5th grade.”

“Brandon, I think you’re mistaken. Why don’t you go confess your supposed love to Blair. I’m sure she’d love to hear it.”

“Mya, I’m not mistaken, I really love you.” Before I could close the door on him he had me in his arms and was carrying me towards the couch. “Put me down Brandon!” He set me on the couch, the next thing I know his lips were on my lips. My heart was beating so fast, he kissed me he finally kissed me! The next thing I knew cloths were off and the deed was done.

When he left later that night I swear I was the happiest girl on the planet. My happiness lasted to the next day, because I couldn’t wait to see him. My crush confessed that he loved me! Walking into school I headed to my locker. People were looking at me, some were even laughing. Raylynn, my best friend came up to me. She hugged me, I was really confused.

“Ray, why are you hugging me?”

“Mya, he lied, it was a joke to get you in bed.”

Tears stained my face. As I wiped them away anger had spread through my body. “Where the h*ll is he?” She pointed to the next locker bay over. This was one of those moments where I was really happy I was wearing flats because I’m pretty sure I would have used one of my heels on him otherwise.

“You are such an a$s!” I yelled as I got closer to where he was standing with his friends. He looked at me in surprise. “Don’t be so shocked Rolandson (Brandon’s last name). You should have known I’d find out the truth." With that I walked away, I grabbed my stuff from my locker and headed to the office. I was good friends with the secretary and asked her if I could go home because of bad cramps. She gave me a pass and smiled. “Sure dear, hope you feel better.” I walked to my car and put my stuff in. Driving home was rather shorter than usually. Out at our ranch was where I went when I was stressed. And boy was I stressed.

*End Flash Back*

They looked at me waiting. “Fine, it’s Brandon Rolandson’s baby.”

Jake started laughing. “There is no way you slept with the most popular guy in -- wait it really is his?” He responded after realizing I was crying thinking they didn’t believe me. I just nodded my head yes. “How far along are you?” My father asked. “Almost three and a half months now.” They were silent now. I could hear the echo of a heartbeat, realizing it was me and my baby’s heart beats on the monitor. I listened to it for a while before falling asleep thinking- I now admitted that I am 3 months pregnant with Brandon Rolandson’s baby.

This is my first story and to me it’s a bit long for a first chapter and the flash back is really long because it’s a main part of the plot.
