Kami's POV

"Your mother is still alive."

In that moment, I felt like everything around me fell away. She couldn't be alive. She's been dead and buried for over 14 years.

"T-that's not f-funny, Lucina. S-she's gone." I whispered. Lucina lifted my head to look her in the eyes.

"Kami, its true. You know I'm right." She said. I shook my head. "You're lying. Why would you lie to me?!" I raised my voice and jumped away from her touch.

"You interrupted my lunch with my brother, bring me here to tell me important information that I probably shouldn't even know, and then tell me a cruel lie like that?!" The tears that had begun to build up in my eyes began to fall.

"I'll leave you to yourself." She said and began to disappear. "I'll return when you've realized it's true."

After she was gone, I fell to the ground and started to cry. If she was alive, why didn't she come home? Why didn't she save us? Did she not love us and just decided to stay away?

"Kami-chan~!" I heard Sting yell from down the street. "Kami, I finished my-Kami!"

He ran to me and wrapped his arms around me. He kissed my head and held me close to him. "Babe, what's wrong? Did Chandler make you cry?"

I shook my head. "No, I'm just upset right now." I whimpered. Sting put his face in the crook of my neck and kissed my skin.

"Please don't cry, Kami-chan." Sting whispered into my neck. "Is there anything I can do?"

"No, I think I just need a distraction." I said and wrapped my arms around his torso. "You said you're done, right? Can we just go home and do nothing?"

He chuckled. "Of course, Kami. I'll get Lector and we'll meet you back at home."

"Okay."

TIMESKIP

Sting and I were laying in bed in silence. Sting was playing with my hair and I was picking at my finger nails.

"Kami?" Sting asked me. He propped himself up with one arm and his navy blue eyes staring lovingly down at me. "You ready to tell me what was wrong?"

I shook my head. I couldn't tell him. Not yet. "Babe, if something's bothering you, you can tell me." He said and nuzzled his face into my neck.

"I know, but I can't this time." I said sadly. His head shot up and he looked at me with worry. "Why not?"

"I-I just...can't." I said, turning away from him. He turned me back and looked down at me. "Tell me, Kami." He said firmly. "If something is bothering you, I want to know so I can fix it."

"You don't have to fix my problems. I can handle myself." I said calmly. I knew what this might lead to.

What was about to happen, had happened before with Delaney, who insisted that I was a fragile little doll that needed protection. I was just glad Lector was downstairs getting a snack and wouldn't have to see it.

"Why do you keep saying that? I know you can handle yourself, but you don't think that I understand that." Sting raised his voice. "I just want you to be safe."

"It's not your job to shelter me. I have my own life, Sting. I have my own problems that I can't talk to anyone about." I said, standing up. "Including you."
