I found out that my older sister, Amanda, had been killed almost five weeks after she disappeared. The man that had taken her had been put in jail, and all the woman he took were taken back to their families.
They had found Amanda's body in the woods about two miles from his cabin. They had found another body next to her's.
They determined that Amanda had died because the boy had slit her throat. They determined that the boy, they had called him Drake, had died from blood loss soon after he killed my sister.
Today was the day that I was going to meet his family. The ride was about three hours to a tiny village in northern Alaska.
When we finally got to their house, I really didn't want to meet the family of the boy who had killed my sister.
I got out of the car with my mom anyways. She had started to love me again after Amanda's death. She had claimed that she had lost one daughter that she hardly knew anymore, she didn't want to loss another without telling her that she loved her. I had also learned the truth of why she had hated us. We looked so much like our father, and she had loved him so much, she hated him for dying on her before he had gotten to know his daughters very well.
My father had died when my mom was pregnant with me and my sister was 7. We had looked so much like him and she hated him for dying, so she hated us.
I was ready for her to start hating me sometime soon, I didn't trust her.
We made it up to the door, and my mom rang the doorbell. A lady in her 50's opened the door.
"Hello," my mom said. "Is this the home of the family of Drake, the boy who died in the woods not far from here?"
"Yes," The lady said. She looked and sounded like she was going to burst into tears. "Are you Amanda's mom?"
"Yes," said my mom.
"Come in," said the lady. We went inside.
The lady's house was decorated with pictures of the same baby.
She had us sit on the couch. She told us about herself. She said she was Drake's mom. She started to tell us about Drake. She said he was kidnapped about 18 years ago. He was only 3 months old.
She told us that her husband was abusive and controlling and one of the most evil people you could meet. She ended up finding out she was pregnant about 1 1/2 weeks after she kicked him out. She had the baby, and he came demanding that he should get the child, because he was the dad. She got him out of her house, and they went to court over it.
She ended up with the child, and he was furious. He came back to the house one night when she was sleeping, and stole baby Drake. He had eventually grown up into the handsome young man that killed my sister.
My mom told what she knew about how Amanda was kidnapped.
The cops had told her what had happened, but she didn't tell me, until now.
Amanda had gotten home from school before everyone else was home. She made herself hot chocolate and popcorn, then went up to her room.
The man (Drake's dad I guess) had climbed the vines growing up the side of the house and grabbed her. He took her to a cabin and made her work with the other women. She somehow escaped and met Drake. She lived with him for about 2 weeks before he killed her. they figured out that their fight had been awfully long and very violent and bloody. He slit her throat with the knife, and she had stabbed him with a paring knife. She had inflicted a mortal wound, and he died a couple of minuets after her.
My mother and Drake's mom held each other and cried. I just sat there in shock. How long did my sister suffer before she died? Was she in heaven? Was there even a heaven? We were leaving anyway, so I had a whole car ride to think about it...
*****************************
Six years after we had talked to Drake's mom, I just had to find out if there was life after death.
I was also convinced the world was the most horrible place to be and I didn't want to be here anymore. I wanted to be with my sister.
As I loaded the hand gun, I was thinking of my mom. She had started to hate me again about 3 months after we got back from Drake's mom's house.
I held the gun to my head, closed my eyes, and pulled the trigger...
*****************************
I open my eyes, and find I'm in a small white room. My head hurts really bad. I see a doorway.
I feel something tickle my legs, look down, and see clouds covering the floor. They can't be the floor, because I can feel marble under my feet.
I go through the doorway, and find I'm in a room with an elderly man at a white desk. He is dressed in all white too.
"Name," he says. I get the feeling he already knows, but I tell him anyway.
"Trina Marie Glipton," I say. The man gives me a towel and tells me to put it on my head wound. I hold it there and he directs me through the wall.
I find I'm in a shower room. An old lady that looks kind-of like the man comes to me. "Hello Trina. Come over here." I follow her to a shower that she turns on for me.
I take off my clothes and get in.
The lady takes my clothes and my head towel that is covered in blood.
I start to shower and find that the water is just a bunch of sparkles.
I find that as I shower, my head stops hurting and it stops bleeding.
The shower turns off by itself and I get out. The lady gives me some clothes. Its a white dress and white shoes. I get dressed and she directs me through a door and next thing I know, I'm standing in a garden that words can't even begin to describe.
I am still staring in awe when someone calls my name. I look and see Amanda running towards me with a really hot guy holding her hand. I mean, he is really hot.
He had black hair and stunning green eyes. He is really muscular. He looks like he just crawled off the cover of a magazine.
"Trina,' Amanda says. "This is Drake. He is the guy who killed me, and he is my boyfriend."
I look at him in disgust. "Why would he be in this place if he killed you?" I ask.
He leaned over to me, whispered in my ear, and I forgive him at once.
"Come on," Amanda says. "There is someone who wants to see you." She points in one direction, I see who it is, and start to run to him.
