I might have sat there for many hours, maybe only a few minuets. I couldn't tell.
The only thing I could tell, was that I was trapped.
As I looked at the ravine closer, I could tell it was more of a large hole about 20 yards across, and I couldn't tell how deep it was.
I walked around the perimeter of the hole a lot.
After sitting in the hole yelling for someone to help me for so long my voice was almost gone, I fell asleep.
****************
"Amanda!"
I awoke to what I thought was someone yelling my name, but it was so soft, it just could have just been the wind in the trees.
"Amanda!" I heard again. I thought it sounded familiar.
I realized who it was. "DRAKE! DRAKE!" I screamed, jumping up and down and waving my arms. "DRAKE OVER HERE! DRAKE!"
"AMANDA!" I then remembered the hole.
"DRAKE BE CAREFUL! THERE IS A REALLY STEEP HOLE IM IN!"
I heard his foot falls now. So close! When he saw the hole edge, he stopped. He must have lied down in his stomach, because his head was hanging over the edge.
"Are you hurt?" he asked when he saw me. "No, not severely. I landed on a pile of leaves. My worst injuries are just scratches. But, you know, I did role my ankle on my way to pick berries, but it wasn't bad and it doesn't hurt that much now."
I was babbling. I did this around cute guys. I was suddenly thinking about the time I had embarrassed myself around my crush in my freshman year of high school.
My friends and I were getting lunch, and we have a self-serve ice cream bar for people who can pay extra for it. I was getting a cone to fill up with the delicious treat, when my crush was suddenly there.
I had struck up conversation, and me being myself, I started to babble.
I wasn't watching my ice cream, and it over flowed. I was lifting it up to my mouth to lick it, and it fell right off the cone and onto my shirt.
He looked at me in a way that I would never forget, and then left.
To make matters worse, I had him in my next class, science, and we were lab partners. Then, our lockers were next door neighbors, and we had history together.
The only other shirt I had to cover up the one I was wearing was an extremely ugly sweater that my aunt had knit for me.
It looked like a hobo had a baby with a hairless dog, and than that had a baby with another hobo, and then multiply the ugliness of that by 10,000,000,000. I was ready to die. I didn't handle hot guys very well.
"OK I'll just go get a rope and pull you up. I'll be back in a second. Don't go anywhere," he said. He disappeared.
"WHERE WOULD I GO?" I yelled, but he probably didn't hear me.
*****************
I had sat there for about an hour before he came back.
"What took you so long?" I asked when he finally stuck his head over the edge of the hole.
"Sorry," he apologized. "It's quite a hike to the cabin and back here." he said. "I'm going to lower the rope."
"Well how else am I going to get out of here?" I asked sarcastically. "Ha ha." he said in a mocking tone of voice. "You are hilarious when you are stuck in a hole with me as the only person to get you out."
