Castielle

I didn't know what Eric had against Four, but it was pretty clear that there was beef between the two. A very large, steamy, fresh-out-of-the-oven type of beef.

Eric was daring me to say shit to Four. His eyes were practically murdering me, threatening me to even utter a single word. I didn't dare open my mouth.

Let's face it, Eric was much scarier than Four. In simpler terms, he was the class bully. The only problem was that the teachers and the rest of the student body adored and feared him.

Nice situation I got myself in.

I cleared my throat, raising my eyes to meet Four's. "Alright, you got me."

I could see in my peripheral that Eric was ready to bust an arm towards me to keep me from talking, but my glare stopped him. I pointed a finger at him, wagged it, and made a  'shh' noise.

His eyes twitched.

Yep, I just treated him like a dog.

"Right," I started, sucking in my cheek, "Okay, Four. You got me. I'm not actually Dauntless. I'm from another place and I am here to... to-uh learn some stuff from Eric. I heard he was great with history and language from the countries... outside. Especially copying their... accents and I sort of asked him to teach me."

Four was wearing an expression. The said expression screamed: I'm not buying your bullshit.

Well, it was worth trying.

"You don't actually believe her?" Eric asked, his voice incredulous. "Okay, she just didn't explain it well. She's Diana Ford, and she's from Erudite. She's a representative of one of the... branches of Erudite Intelligence, and was tasked to know more about the world before the War."

Diana Ford? Erudite? World before the War? What the fuck?

Despite everything that Eric said, Four's face was still blank. Yep, he really was not buying our bullshit.

Eric sighed, looking defeated. My eyes almost popped out at his acting. Wow, he was a good liar. "You know my history, Four. I'm Erudite's top student, and their biggest export. Even if I chose Dauntless, Jeanine still requires my service."

Silence coated us for a few seconds. Four looked at both of us, his eyes made of steel, "I'm not believing the shit that just came out of your mouth. I'm on to you, Coulter." Turning on his heel, he went out of the room.

A tiny little problem popped up yet again for lil' ole me.

Eric was still furious about my accent slip-up.

Oh, joy.
