EVERYTIME CLASS HOURS begin, her classmates would greet her a good morning and she could only reply with a formal bow. Her classmates were aware of her loss of voice, most particularly the ones who was with her since middle school. And they still feel bad for her. One could say that Jennie was thankful, but at the same time, she always felt humiliated.
"Jennie~" Rosé called her name and handed out a small box, wrapped in a cute pink gift wrapper. "I boought you a present from Japan!"
Jennie raised her hand, "Thank you!"
She kept the small present in her bag and smiled at Rosé, "No problem!" the latter replied.
"I heard that you're gonna be living with uhm.. You know who."
Jennie let out a deep sigh, "It's not working out well."
Rosé raised her eyebrow, "Don't you think it's a great opportunity to explain yourself to him? I know it will be hard for you, but.. He deserves to know."
Jennie nodded in agreement, "I know. But I'll doubt that he'll believe me."
"Why wouldn't he, now?! It was his f—" Rosé stopped and her eyes widened at the sudden realization. Jennie could only raise her eyebrow as she waited for her to continue, she wondered why she paused in the middle of her words. "I-It was his friend who will finally explain why she has been unknowingly ignoring him for years.."
Jennie shrugged. She noticed Rosé was trembling, she was stuttering and she seemed to be nervous, but she just didn't mind it.
"Good morning, ladies," Jaehyun who had just arrived greeted the two girls.
"Jaehyunnie!" Rosé embraced the young lad and Jaehyun pulled her in for a quick kiss on her cheek.
Jennie could only roll her eyes at such sight. Jaehyun sat beside Jennie, where his usual seat is, and Rosé sat beside the exhange student from Thailand, Lisa.
Their homeroom teacher had arrived just in time and immediately started his boring lecture.
During class period, Jennie did not move away from her seat at all, in fact she didn't seem to be in her proper state; physically she's present, mentally she's absent. She had the palm of her hand guiding her chin with the tip of her elbows rested on the table.
She seemed to be thinking deep and Jaehyun had noticed, so he decided to break the silence in the midst of the lecture.
Calmly, he asked, "Are you okay?" Not wanting to startle the spaced-out girl.
Jennie shook her head, seeming to have been brought back to reality. She turned to Jaehyun, she flashed a smile and nodded.
Jaehyun knew she was lying, but there was no use of forcing her to tell the truth. He had known her for years, just like Rosé does. Jennie uses her sweet and convincing smiles to cover up truth, and other people actually fall for it, but not them.
"Taeyong's changed a lot, hasn't he, Jennie?" Jaehyun, breaking the formal conversation, snapped the question.
Jennie's eyebrows furrows in confusion, only for her eyes widen right after. She looked somewhere else, anxiously.
