JENNIE
SHE COULD ONLY tremble in fear for what Taeyong's reaction might be after coming back for almost 3 years of parting ways. She wondered why he never wrote back when she sends letters to Korea. Every night, she would ask herself where it all went wrong, and she'd answer it all.
But she's been waiting for the day when it will be him, who answers. They had been through a lot together, she couldn't bare to handle the thought of him just throwing everything away just like that.. But he did.
When the Lee family finally came, he only stared at the girl whom he thought abandoned him. Jennie expected a simple hello or a smile but even that, she received nothing other than death glares.
There was an excruciating weight in her heart that distracted her from the reunion, and to think that it was merely caused by a pair of dead eyes.
She was seated right in front of him which had given her hopes of getting noticed, however at the same time, it made her feel uncomfortable. She tried to get his attention several times, but she failed miserably as he only kept his eyes on the food.
Jennie knew Taeyong refused to believe what really happened. And he was too stubborn to listen. Because he'd always reason out that she's too strong for her own good and it's most likely impossible for her to suffer from such.
If only it were true.
"Jennie, dear. Are you alright?" Mrs. Lee asked as her mother lovingly caressed her back, asking if she's alright. Jennie could only nod her head in response.
She forced herself to eat even though she had already lost her appetite the moment Taeyong gave her no decipherable emotions. Expectations are a hindrance from happiness, as one of her friends once said.
Hence she thought that, maybe it's also her fault that she's in such a gloom; she expected too much. But then, she suddenly remembered how poor she had treated him before parting ways.
Jennie was advised by her parents to avoid Taeyong until she has fully recovered. And the reason to that is because after the incident, the sight of Taeyong frightened her. His face was a literal reminder of what happened that night, and his existence was rewritten in her mind like that. It was a tragedy that only she knew.
But it wasn't exactly in a way that she was unconsciously blaming Taeyong for what happened. It was vague at first— Everything was confusing for her at first. She didn't know what to call the feeling that she had engrained into her soul whenever she sees Taeyong.
However, she could still recall how her body would quiver and her heart would race fast. How her honey pool orbs would alter into the state of grievous anxiety and what the voices in her head would always say.
'Save him, Jennie. He's going to die.'
Though it took a long time for her to understand why she always felt like that, she finally realized that she wasn't mad at Taeyong. Rather she was still afraid that he'd end up getting killed.
But getting killed by who? And for what?
Jennie was sent back to reality without her even knowing, but a part of her was still being swallowed by her lingering thoughts. She could only laugh as she remembered how pitiful she looked during those times, but also felt sorry for causing the people around her so much trouble.
