As Kei Nagai roused into consciousness, the first thing he became aware of was the whistling of wind in his ears. When he opened his eyes, all he saw was the blue of the sky. He looked down, and proceeded to curse under his breath. Why the hell was he falling through the air towards the freaking ocean?!
"Of course," Kei muttered. "Of course I can't have five normal minutes to relax."
Being an Ajin, no thoughts of panic ran through his head. He couldn't die. The fall would definitely kill him, but then his body would reboot like normal. Yes, it would hurt, but by then, he had gotten used to it.
Then, Kei crashed into something hard. He could feel his bones breaking, felt his blood pool out of him. Everything went black for a few seconds, before a clicking and buzzing sound filled his ears, and his eyes opened once more. He sat up, his body coated in his blood but perfectly fine. Then he looked under him. He felt metal underneath his body, but when he looked, he saw nothing. He knocked on the invisible metal, carefully, and knew that it was there.
"Well, that's new," Kei muttered. "How bothersome."

"Sir, our sensors are picking up something on the roof!" Agent Maria Hill announced. "It looks like a human!"
"How the hell did a human get on the roof?!"the Director of SHIELD, Nick Fury, scowled. "Send someone up and to get them, and take them down to the interrogation cells!"
"Yes, sir!" Hill nodded, repeating the order into her earpiece.
Within five minutes, several incredibly surprised agents of SHIELD had pulled Kei off the roof, and settled him into one of the interrogation cells. Around the same time, the Helicarrier landed, restocking on supplies and waiting for Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner to board.

"Who and what are you?" a voice came from the direction of the door.
Kei looked up, raising an eyebrow at the sight of a bald, black man wearing an eyepatch. He was dressed all in black, with several weapons on his person. Covertly, Kei began to summon his Ghost, putting it on standby.
"Why do you want to know?" Kei asked.
"I'd like to determine if you're a threat or not," the man cocked his head to the side. "And if I have to put you down."
"I'm human," the Ajin smirked.
"I doubt that," the man's eye narrowed. "I saw the amount of blood you left on my roof. No normal human would have survived that."
Kei's smirk fell. "It doesn't matter. I'm not a threat. I only wish to live in peace."
"If you do, then you can tell me what you are."
"You work for a government, yes?" Kei asked.
"I do," the man conceded.
"Then you should know. My face was plastered everywhere until recently."
"I'm afraid I don't know what you are referring to."
"Don't try to play any tricks with me," Kei scowled. "Next thing will be you have no idea what an Ajin is!"
"Is that what you are? An Ajin?" the man's eyebrow furrowed. "And you're right. I have no idea what that is. A type of alien, perhaps? Were your people considered gods, once?"
"You don't know? That's a shocker."
"Perhaps you could enlighten me."
"Why should I?" Kei frowned.
"If you don't want a bullet in your head, then I'd advise you answer my questions."
"Go ahead. Try it. A bullet between the eyes wouldn't be the worst thing a government's done to me."
"You're not afraid of death?" the man's lips pursed.
"I don't die," Kei shrugged.
"Do you have any other skills?"
"Several," Kei tapped his fingers on the tabletop. "And that's all you're getting from me."
"Tell me," the man leaned forward. "How would you like to save the world?"
"Why should I?"
"If you do, then you'll be released. Monitored, of course, but you'll be free to do whatever you wish within the bounds of legality."
Kei thought about it only for a few moments. The man seemed to be honest about not knowing what an Ajin was. And if he didn't know, then there was a chance that no one else would know, either. He had realized almost immediately that the man was American, and if they didn't know, he doubted that the rest of the world would. Which meant there would be nothing preventing him from living a normal life afterwards.
"I'm in."
