Hermione

SEPTEMBER 1ST,1994 had finally arrived. I've been counting down the days until I would return to Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The train halted to a stop, making my heart beat ten times faster than it usually does. Harry and Ron followed me closley from behind, as if they would get lost if they didn't.

This year, except for studies, tests, and Harry getting himself in trouble, I've been looking forward to something else, too.

The very thing that I'm talking about is the Triwizard Tournament. I, of course, have done some research on this event, and I've found a lot of interesting things worth knowing.

The Triwizard Tournament was a magical contest held between the three largest wizarding schools in Europe: Hogwarts, Drumstrang and Beauxbatons. The first Tournament was held sometime around the late 13th century, and it is known for being really dangerous; sometimes even ending with the contestant's death. It is held every five years, and it is hosted by each school in turn. The champions are chosen by an impartial selector: the Globet of Fire.

After Beauxbatons' beautiful entrance, and Drumstrang's dramatic one, the feast had finally begun. Obviously, both schools were curious, thus how a lot of friendships were formed. Both parites were shy at first, but some have seemed to relax.

Even if the two schools were supposed to be estatic, it was the other way round. In Drumstrang proudly stood the oh-so-famous Viktor Krum, with his followers by his side. It made me wonder if the minions even knew how his voice sounded like, since the boy hasn't spoken a word since their school arrived.

On the other side, Beauxbatons seemed like night lamps because of their shiny robes and bright, blonde hairs. Without intention, Fleur Delacour was getting all of the boys attention. She was half Veela, half human, obviously. But neither I could deny it; she was beautiful.

I snapped back to reality, only to realize that Ron was staring at her with heart eyes, once again. I rolled my eyes, and slapped the back of his head.

"Oi, what the bloody hell was that for?" Ron asked.

"I was just taking care of a friend." I remarked.

"Well if you had good intensions, you should have let me stare at her." He pointed out, clearly annoyed.

"Well, if you wanted her to be creeped out by you, then I should have." I said, smiling innocently.

"Whatever," Ron said, going back to eating.

People think that I have a crush on him. Well, to be honest, I did. For a long time, actually. That was the time when I was curious, and beyond foolish. Back then, I thought I needed a man to keep me confident every day, and I refuse to believe that now. If anything, he made me feel even more insecure. I was always carrying a mirror around, so whenever I could, I would check how my bushy hair looked, even if I have tried literally anything to make it look decent.

When I grew up to realize I didn't need a man to tell me if I looked pretty or not, is when I finally felt freedom. Who cares about my hair anyways? About how my legs look in this skirt? As some would say, Love it or leave it.

So, I grew a backbone, and here I am, stuffing my face with food, because, God, these are some good cookies.

Soon after that, I heared Prefects calling their houses to line up so they could lead the way to the dormitories.

Me, Harry and Ron, as always, were the last in the line. We followed the Prefects throught Hogwarts' long corridors and moving staircases, until we reached the Fat Lady's Portait, a.k.a, our only way in.

While Harry and Ron were in a deep conversation about Quidditch, which I, by the way, know nothing of, I saw a shadow walking around the corridors as if they were lost.

Noticing that no one was paying attention, I went to help the poor thing. Either could be a first year, or someone from the two schools. I neared the lost figure, and tapped them on the shoulder. That was a bad idea, since it was clearly someone from Drumstrang, which meant that they had fighting reflexes.

Another second my feet were firmly on the ground, and the other one, I was pressed against the cold wall.

"Merlin's Beard, take it easy..." I coughed out.

"I am very sorry!" Said the deep voice with a Bulgarian accent, which confirmed my doubts of the lost person being from Drumstrang.

"It's okay, you didn't hurt me. But what I wanted to ask is, are you lost?" I asked, brushing off the fact that I almost died a couple of seconds ago.

"Yes." He replied.

"Well, what house are you staying at, then?" I asked.

"Erm, snakes?" He asked as I laughed.

"Slytherins, of course they have befriended you." I chuckled. "Well anyways, since I am not allowed to roam the corridors at night, let's ask a Prefect to lead you to your dormitory, shall we?"

The boy nodded as we walked towards the Prefect that was standing in front of the Portrait, now aware of the students walking towards him.

Before they reached the Prefect, the boy asked:

"What's your name?"

"Hermione Granger. And yours?"

"Viktor Krum."

I was surprised to say the least, mostly at myself for not noticing him before, but it still didn't affect my attitude towards him.

So, I smiled and shook his hand before the Prefect came and lead him to the Slytherin's dormitory, while I entered mine.

It's not that I'm against Romione, it's just that I'm kind of pissed that Ron took years to notice how worthy Hermione was.
