"This is what you deserve," Tiarna whispered, yanking her head back by her hair and pushing the glass into her neck. Sparks of pain erupted on her neck, making Sky whimper with pain. It felt like flames were licking her throat with deadly strokes.
"Bye, bitch," Tiarna said, raising the glass slightly to slice across he throat completely. Instead, Tiarna's arms yanked back on her throat - she wasn't going to choke her, was she? - then Tiarna's hold on her slipped and Sky collapsed to the ground. She scrambled around to see what Tiarna was doing.
Christian was holding Tiarna down to the ground.
"Why the hell was she attacking you?" Christian yelled over Tiarna's frustrated screams.
"I - I don't know!" gasped Sky. "She didn't want..."
"Yeah?"
"It doesn't matter, she just -"
The sound of a siren pealed above the pounding music downstairs. Someone switched the dubstep off, and she heard running footsteps climb the steps to the room.
Several policemen and a girl burst into the room."Oh, my god! What is going on?!" exclaimed Britany.
"Tiarna, she - she tried..." Sky blinked woozily. "Tried to...hurt...me..."
From a distance, she could hear Christian. "Sky! Sky, what's wrong?!"
"She's bleeding!" Britany said.
At that, she remembered the small gash Tiarna had tried to finish on her neck. She became aware of the hot pain it spilled down her throat.
She raised her hands and saw them covered in red.
Then Sky's head became heavier than a bag of sand, her vision went blurry and Christian picked her up in his arms.
"I believe you," she whispered - however meaningless this statement was, it was lost her in this state - before everything went blank.
After what felt like days, Sky woke up in a sterile white bed, nostalgic of her coma days. Her head was thumping steadily and painfully. A thick bandage was taped to her neck.
"How are you feeling, honey?" asked a nurse with brown eyes and dark brown hair.
Sky winced. When she talked, her voice sounded croaky like she hadn't talked in days. "Like my head's been hit by a jackhammer."
"Yes, you hit your head pretty hard; after only recently having an awful head injury, I'm sorry to say but this one will be...magnified, if you will."
"Oh. Great."
"Is your neck stinging? We'll have to re-bandage that soon."
"It's fine. Is my family here?"
"Yes, yes. We'll allow them to visit after you've had a few extra check ups and a meal."
The nurse scurried off and Sky lay her head back on her pillow, her head reeling. The thin cut on her throat dully ache and she could feel bruises surfacing on her arms and legs.
Sky's head began to ache even harsher and her vision went blurry. And then her memories rushed over her again.
It's dark and smoky. Teenagers swarm all over the place, dancing and laughing and kissing. The music is so loud it thumps in her head.
Tara is already here. She got dropped off earlier by their mum. Sky got a lift instead from her friend, Maddie's, sister. She's already peeled off into the crowd.
She wanders around the dark and busy house, weaving around couples and groups of giggling girls and cheering boys.
"Hey, Sky," says a boy smoking a joint with a group of other kids who are grinning happily.
"How are you goin'?"asks another guy, smoke weaving out of his mouth and his dark brown hair messy.
"Good. Have you seen Christian?" she asks.
A few of them shrug but a girl with red hair and a striped turtleneck, clutching a dirty bong, nods. "He went upstairs. With you, I thought."
"...no..."
"Smoked too much already, eh, Chels?" the guys laugh.
Sky wanders around the unfamiliar house and goes up the stairs to the second level. She continues down the corridor to the end room, before freezing.
She can see Tara, wearing a pink shirt almost identical to her own, and wearing her hair in a plait just like she herself usually styles her hair. She is talking to Christian flirtatiously, strategically standing in a dark area of the room so Christian cannot see that it is actually Tara. Sky's face feels hot with anger.
Tara leans forward and deeply kisses the confused Christian, and Sky unintentionally gasps. Christian pulls away, surprised, and his face is shocked when he sees her. He looks between the two sisters with dismay.
Meanwhile, Tara is cooly gauging Sky's reaction with a smirk on her face.
Sky searches for words. "What the fuck?" she demands Tara. "What are you DOING with my boyfriend?!"
"Not much of a boyfriend is he, huh?"
"Shut up! Just shut up!" Sky whirls around and gestures for Christian to leave. "We just need a moment, Christian, if you don't mind."
"Ok, but, Sky, I had no idea, I can't believe -"
"I know, just...go," Sky said desperately. She turned back to Tara who was raising an eyebrow.
"What's wrong, Sky?" Tara asks in a saccharine voice.
"Shut up!" Sky says angrily. "What is with you?!"
"You," Tara whispers, smiling.
