I had been avoiding Masky ever since I first brought him to Slender Mansion. It was too awkward every time we tried to talk, and I didn't know what to say anyways. But today was going to be different, since Dad said we had to go find him a new proxy. I tried to mentally prepare myself for conversation as I walked into the kitchen. He was sitting there with a plate of cheesecake, staring at me through his mask. My face reddened behind my own mask. "Good morning," I said awkwardly as I sat down across from him at the small table.

"Good morning," he said back, not breaking eye contact.

"So, um, my dad said that we have to find a new proxy today," I said, as I poured myself a bowl of cereal.

"Yeah," he replied. "It's Brian, right? My friend?" He said the last part in a bitter voice, probably thinking about how violently I stole him from his own house.

I cleared my throat. "Yeah, Brian," I said. "Any idea how we're going to get him back here?"

"No," Masky responded, his voice not losing the cold edge.

I decided not to pursue further conversation, and instead focused on my cereal. Dad walked in shortly after our conversation, and looked at both of us eating in silence. He slid a file towards me, similar in size to the one he gave me on Masky. "This is some information that I've collected on Brian. However, I assume you won't need most of it, since you have Masky to help you," he said.

"Mr. Slenderman, sir?" asked Masky. "So, do I have to go with (Y/N)? I'm feeling kind of, um, sick today." He faked a cough. I rolled my eyes at his ridiculous actions.

"I can go by myself," I said coldly.

"No. You both need to get over yourselves. You're now living in the same household, and you have to at least be able to make comfortable conversation with one another. From what I've seen, you can't even do that," Dad said firmly. "Now, you're both going to bring Brian to me."

"Fine," I said, annoyed.

"Yes, sir," Masky replied dully, obviously not enjoying the fact that we had to go together.

I pushed my empty bowl away from me, and sighed.

Masky got up as well, and slung his ragged bag over his shoulder. "You got a weapon?" I asked, showing him my dagger. "You never know when you might need one."

"Yeah, I got a gun in my bag," he replied. "Come on. We don't have all day." He walked past me briskly, and went out the front door. I followed him, and walked quickly until I was right beside him.

"Do you even know how to get there?" I asked, clutching my duffel bag close to my body.

"I'm the one who has the file with the directions, (Y/N). And once we're out of the woods I'm pretty sure I'll know my way around my own town pretty well," he said, waving the thick file in my face. "What's in here, anyways?" He opened it, and flipped through some of the pages. "Oh. Nothing that we really need."

Masky stopped as we got to the edge of the clearing where Slender Mansion resided. "I... I don't know my way around the forest," he said shakily. I could tell he was uneasy, looking at the darkness in front of us.

"I can show you," I said gently. "I know my way around, and it won't take long for you to remember the way on your own. Come on." I took him by the sleeve and pulled him gently towards the thick gathering of tall trees. He hesitated for a moment before willingly coming with me. I could feel him shivering as we weaved our way through trees, dodging branches and stepping over large rocks and short bushes. At one point, he tripped over a tree root and flopped onto his face, and completely freaked since a worm got into his hair.
